How To Rescue the Heart Doctor by Alison Roberts: Elsie Henderson was a single mom after losing her husband. She loved her career as a nurse. Her skills came in handy when her daughter had a baby with spina bifida. Brie lived with her mom since her son’s father had disappeared and she hadn’t known she was pregnant until after he was gone. Brie’s son Felix is a lovely child and is upbeat even with all the surgeries and treatments he has to go through.

Dr. Anthony Morgan stays busy to try not to focus on how his ex-wife, who was a serial cheater, took their son and moved away. Anthony and his son Jonno have been estranged and that weighs heavy on his heart.

One evening when Elsie is working she meets Dr. Anthony Morgan, a pediatric heart surgeon. After some getting to know each other time they realize they share a grandson. Felix is beside himself with excitement when he finds out he has a grandfather.

Elsie becomes friends with Anthony, but they try to keep their personal lives away from their work lives.
Both have been single for quite a while. Can they get past all the various family issues and find love?

I was thrilled to read a story where the two main characters were middle-aged. The author truly showed how love is not just for the young, but can blossom at any time. Anthony had so much baggage to deal with, but he still was a very caring man who loved Elsie just as she was.

I was truly impressed with all the medical scenes. The author must have done some deep research and it made everything more authentic. I applaud anyone who works with children. It is definitely not just a job. It’s truly a vocation.

There was lots of suspense in the plot that kept me reading at a fast clip. The author did an amazing job at making all the elements of the storyline flow well.

This book is the second in a duet of Morgan Family Medics. I accidentally read this one out of order. I’ll read the first, Secret Son To Change His Life very soon.
