In Hunter Reborn (Moon Shifter #5) by Katie Reus, When wolf-shifter Aiden Nicholl’s mate Larissa Danesti died sixty years ago, it left him wandering aimlessly until he joined the Armstrong pack in America. Now he has a renewed purpose, helping defend the shifters and, lately, investigating why vampire blood is being sold to humans. It is during a trip scouting for such trafficking in a local club when he spots a woman who looks exactly like Larissa. To Aiden’s utter shock and disbelief, it actually is Larissa. But sadly, she doesn’t remember him or their relationship decades ago.
“We’re bonded, Larissa. I’ve loved you since the moment we met and that feeling never died, even when I thought you had. The fact that you can’t remember me, remember us, kills me.”
A ruckus at the club sends Aiden and his pack back to their home base with Larissa in tow. She’s fearful of him and his shifter clan after being told how dangerous he is by someone who claimed to be close to her family. Not knowing who to trust but going on her gut instincts, Larissa remains with Aiden as they encounter attacks against them and try to find out who is behind the blood trafficking. Unfortunately she is a key element in the situation, and while she begins to remember things and gains trust in Aiden, they may not have much remaining time together to enjoy their reunion. Unless they can stop the sinister forces against them.
Larissa tore her lips back from Aiden’s. “I might never regain my memories,” she blurted, needing to let him know.
“Then we’ll make new ones.” He didn’t hesitate. As if it wasn’t a question for him.
A second chance romance between a wolf-shifter and a vampire? Believe it. Author Katie Reus has given us a super sexy, totally romantic, action packed novel that had me held under its spell the entire time.
This is the first Moon Shifter novel I’ve read, although not the first book by Katie Reus I’ve read before. Her writing style is very easy to follow but still very much filled with emotional depth and tons of detail to each scene. I think what I’ve enjoyed most so far is that Ms. Reus is not afraid to delve into the darker feelings and thoughts in tough situations. All of it comes out as her characters are struggling and sorting through whatever is happening. It brings a sense of realism to a paranormal novel, which can be a daunting task, I’m sure.
I’ll admit I did take notes on the many characters I met in Hunter Reborn so I could keep track. At times it felt a little like getting to know the cast of a movie or even a soap opera. But not in a bad way. It was really interesting to see how they all interacted and who was paired up with whom. There were several subplots to the story as we see members of the pack getting closer, such as Ryan and Theresa, Natalia and Aldric, and even young pups Lucas and Vivian. This leaves so many options for future novels and I, for one, can’t wait to see how it all plays out!
Aiden and Larissa’s story seriously tore at my heart. They were so absolutely in love when they were torn apart and Aiden believed her to be dead. The flashback scenes they each had painted a picture of the adoration they held for one another and showed what they had been willing to give up in order to build a life together. I honestly got a little choked up when Aiden saw Larissa for the first time in sixty years. The way Ms. Reus described his shock and wonderment was done perfectly. And following along as Larissa began to remember their brief but meaningful relationship, the reason why her body reacted to Aiden the way it did, was so heartwarming.
I would definitely recommend this paranormal romance to readers who love a reunion story with a lot of substance to it. Whether you are new to the series or already a fan, I think you’ll be enthralled with Hunter Reborn just like I was.

Thanks for the review, Michele. I don’t read many paranormal books, but this one sounds good and emotional.
