REVIEW: Just His Luck by B.J. Daniels

Just His Luck by B.J. Daniels is the third book in her Sterling’s Montana series. Once again this author has whipped up a page-turner of a thriller. The story has loads of suspense, with twists, turns and lots of surprises.

Ten years ago Ariel Matheson disappeared the night of her high school graduation party. She wasn’t heard from for ten years. Then she was heard from, so to speak, in a very dramatic way. Her car, with bones and some identifying objects, was discovered in a local pond by a man doing excavation for a new building. The rope tied around the steering wheel was proof positive that Ariel was murdered. Lizzy Connors is starting her first day as the newly elected sheriff of Whitehorse, Montana.

Nothing like starting her first day on the job with a cold case murder, especially since she was friends with the murder victim and was at the graduation party where Ariel was last seen racing away from it in her SUV. And just when Lizzy had just reconnected with Shade Sterling who she had a crush on in high school. Strange things start happening after this gruesome discovery. Who killed Ariel Matheson and will this discovery whet the murder’s appetite?

The two main characters, Lizzy and Shade have a relationship that B.J. Daniels develops in a very different way in this story. Her use of the murder victim’s observations and remarks makes for a unique point of view. I really liked the different style in this book. Fans of murder mysteries and suspense will enjoy reading this book.
