Lessons from a One-Night Stand by Piper Rayne: Austin is biding his time in his hometown. The last of his siblings are about to graduate from high school, so it’s the right time for him to pursue his dream of coaching baseball in college. Austin was a talented player, but he returned home to raise his siblings with his sister after they unexpectedly lost their parents. He’s a good teacher and better coach. With one foot out the door, he’s not looking for anyone to tie him to town.
Holly has her reasons for taking the temporary position as a high school principal in a small Alaskan town. Moving to Alaska from Florida is quite the change and only the first of things that will be outside of her usual comfort zone. She’s smart, funny, blushes easily, and is independent.
Holly and Austin have a pep in their step after an amazing one-night stand in the backseat of his Jeep, but when they find out exactly who the other is on Monday morning, it’s a different story. Holly is his new boss and she quickly learns that there are no secrets in a small town. Holly is determined to keep things professional from here on out, but it’s hard to deny their chemistry.
“Yeah, I’m hoping to head to California, but time will tell.” The impulse to check my phone rears its head, but I refrain.
“How many more reasons do you need to know that we’re not a good idea?”
“It doesn’t mean we can’t have fun while we’re both here.”
Both Holly and Austin are planning to leave at the end of the semester anyway, so a fling seems like a good idea. Their fling is just about the worst kept secret in town, much to Holly’s chagrin, but they also have a hard time keeping to Holly’s rules. They laugh, banter, and provide comfort as needed. It doesn’t help that everyone in town has an opinion and isn’t shy about weighing in, especially all of Austin’s many siblings.
“Let me give you a little advice when it comes to the Baileys and Lake Starlight-the word no needs to be in your vocabulary.”
“Are you suggesting I should tell you no?”
He turns to me and I side-eye him, my smirk proud.
“I’m the exception.”
Lessons from a One-Night Stand is steamy, entertaining, and a really fun read. Piper Rayne created an amusing small town with a gossip mill to rival any other along with anticipation, heat, humor, and plenty of family. Piper Rayne developed a great cast of characters in Austin’s family that I’m looking forward to following throughout this series. Fans of Kendall Ryan and Melissa Foster will enjoy Lessons from a One-Night Stand.

If you’re a guy like me, and you find yourself having banged your sexy new boss—the school principal—in the back of your Jeep one drunken night, here’s a few takeaways based on my experience…
Lesson One: Always get her FULL name.
Lesson Two: Consider asking what she does for a living.
Lesson Three: Find out why she’s moved to town. Get details. Details are crucial.
Lesson Four: Don’t alter her bio in front of an auditorium of high school students unless you know she has a sense of humor for that sort of thing.
Lesson Five: If you ignore Lesson Four, apologize instead of flirt when you’re sent to the principal’s office.
Lesson Six: NEVER sleep with her again.
Lesson Seven: Pay attention to this one—it’s the most important of them all.
Don’t fall for your one-night stand.
Class dismissed.

I like Piper’s books but being Alaskan, if hard to read AK based stories….always something a bit off for me….the only author I read without fail, dealing with an area in which I’ve lived, is J. A. Jance’s “J. P. Beaumont” series….spot on!
thanks for the review.
