Looking for Love in All the Haunted Places by Claire Kann: Lucky Hart has really not lived up to her name, it would seem that having a rather unconventional gift can be a bit polarising to some, not only is she estranged from her family, lost all her friends but she has also been rejected twice to graduate school! However it would seem that her luck might just be ready to turn, when Lucky hears about a production company that cant seem to keep any of their actors for more than a few days, she decides to audition for the role of caretaker of the haunted Hennessee House. For the next 30 days Lucky has to contend with the eccentric paranormal activities of the Hennessee House, for anyone else this might send them running for the hills but for the first time in forever Lucky finally feels like she belongs.
A spooktacular romance, yes please! Right from the cover of this book I knew it would be an interesting read, I mean doesn’t this cover just give you all those old creepy gothic house feels? Finding Love In All The Haunted Places was just the book for me, this book was a great combination of slightly spooky, great romance, some giggles and the beauty of finally feeling like you fit in. I will say the synopsis doesn’t fully do the book justice but it still sparked enough intrigue for me to want to know more and pick up the book. One thing that I loved was the care and detail that Kann put into building this world so that we as readers can get the full experience alongside Lucky.
I really liked Lucky, she is not your conventional female character. She is a bit quirky and a bit of an odd ball but I loved her all the more for this. I really enjoyed getting to understand her gift of ESP better and understanding how she uses it to unravel the mystery that is the Hennessee House. My heart truly broke for Lucky, its not easy being shunned for being different. I loved getting to see her find a place that she felt seen and people that she felt comfortable with, I loved the found family aspect in this book. Now for our hero Maverick, well he was a pretty great hero all in his own right. I liked getting to drive into his backstory a bit and understand his past. There was a great chemistry between him and Lucky, they had an almost instant spark and I loved getting to see this develop. I really liked how they grew closer the more time they spent together and the way they learned to trust and lean on one and other. The actual spice to their story was a bit low but it worked in this book.
It would be a miss not to mention Hennessee House itself in my review, this house was something else entirely. I loved that it had so much personality. Without giving to much away, I will say that my heart did break for this house. It was so much more than just an old haunted house. I truly enjoyed getting to uncover the mysteries at Hennesssee House with Lucky this book was truly something special.
Looking For Love In All The Haunted Places was the perfect balance of spooky and cosy. This book is a total must read for all fans of a bit of magicy romance!
