Love At First Bark by Michelle Major: Cassie Raebourn is working in as a veterinarian at a clinic in Crimson, Colorado while the one of the vets is having to take some time off due to medical issues. She has always loved animals and loves her current job except for the other vet in the practice who seems to find fault with everything she does and makes her think she won’t be part of the practice when things are back to normal.

Aiden Riley is a former rodeo star who has had to make other plans for his life after a serious injury. Cassie remembers him from a long ago traumatic situation. Aiden is working on a ranch to help out before moving on.

There is definite chemistry between the two. but they are afraid to risk getting too close with the future not settled for either of them. Can their love of animals bring about a closeness?

Both of the two main characters have lots of issues to deal with so it’s understandable why they want to protect their hearts. I had to admire how they both seemed to thaw and grow over the course of the story. This tale had a true villain with the difficult and mean vet. Someone like that doesn’t need to be around animals or pet lovers.

This is the 12th in a series. It is complete as a standalone. I have read others by this charming author. This novel was extra special with all lovely animals and the beautiful cover.

Sometimes love happens in the most re-bark-able way.

Cassie Raebourn’s love life has gone to the dogs—literally. A childhood trauma inspired her career as a veterinarian where she indulges her special fondness for dogs. Then, Aiden Riley unexpectedly walks into her clinic and steals her heart. The reckless rodeo star was at the center of the trauma all those years ago. Cassie knows Aiden feels the attraction too. Can they bury the past and find the courage to let each other in?
