In Love, Liana…Sincerely, Kade by Allie Doherty, Liana Dawson is a blogger about love. But when her readers demand she answer sex questions, she feels ill-equipped to answer them, having only had been with one man. In comes Kade Jennings.
Kade writes into Liana, asking for her to help him figure out how to love. Liana agrees to help him, if he agrees to help with her new sex advice blog. What Liana isn’t prepared for is Kade, who comes across as a jerk. The more time they spend together, the more they understand each other. Will they discover that they are what they were each looking for?
There are mentions of domestic violence in this book. If this is a trigger for you, you may want to stay away from this one.
The romance between Kade and Liana is a very slow burn. Almost painfully slow. A good portion of the book dealt with Kade’s best friend, Stephanie, and her abusive girlfriend, and with Liana’s difficult relationships with her sisters and her father. At times, it felt like Kade and Liana were side characters in their own book.
There were a lot of things were just glossed over and not fully explained. For example, Liana had a good relationship with her sister, Kit, until their other sister, Zoe moved in. All of a sudden, Kit’s attitude towards Zoe changed, and it was never explained why. It’s also mentioned that Kit took Zoe down when she left her job, but it’s not explained what that meant or what happened to make her suddenly turn on Zoe. Considering Liana’s issues with Zoe and Kit were a big focus of the book, it would have been nice to have had some explanation and closure there. Liana also goes out on a date with her ex but then they’re suddenly best friends, despite the fact of what he did with Zoe when they were in high school. There’s no explanation for his actions, and I had a hard time believing she could get over that so quickly, when she’s been harboring such anger at Zoe about it all these years. These left more questions than answers, and I expected more than that considering they played such a big role in the book.
None of the characters are particularly likeable. That, combined with the glossing over things without much explanation, made it difficult to make it through this book. There were some parts I found myself just skimming along. I would have preferred for the book to focus more on Liana and Kade rather than all the drama that was going with the side characters, who were really more like main characters that pushed Liana and Kade to the side.

Meet Liana Dawson, a perpetually single romantic-advice blogger.
She’s one set of granny-panties away from proclaiming herself New York City’s version of Bridget Jones when she’s hit with a fan-demand for sex advice. With an unwavering belief in love (and rom-com superiority), there’s no relationship problem Love, Liana can’t fix… until a fascinating, albeit cocky, email paves the way to a whirlwind friendship that leaves her questioning everything she thought she knew about falling in love.
Enter Kade Jennings, the ass who wrote it.
After writing in to a popular blog to get some answers about whether love exists, Kade receives an offer he can’t refuse—one that throws his world of one-night stands, whiskey, and books into a tailspin at the hands of a woman he had no intention of ever meeting.
Liana knows love, Kade knows sex. They could be each other’s perfect teacher… if they can keep their hands off long enough to learn.
