Midnight-RevengeMidnight Revenge by Elle Kennedy: Derek prefers to work alone and only rely on himself. He’s seen and experienced many things in his career in black ops and as a mercenary. He may now be part of a team while working for Morgan, but he keeps himself separate and doesn’t talk about the past. Sophia runs a clinic where she often treats the mercenaries from Morgan’s crew. She’s used to the tough, alpha males but Derek seems more remote than the rest.

When Sullivan goes missing, Morgan and his mercenaries use all their contacts to search for him. Derek is especially invested since he was the intended target. He’s determined to find Sullivan and find out which of his enemies is looking for revenge. Operating off of a tip, D is on the path when Sophia shows up out of the blue. Neither have forgotten their night together and they need to talk about the consequences.

“No,” Sophia protested, sounding as frustrated as he felt. “Damn it, Derek. We need to talk first.”
“I don’t have time to talk. I’m in the middle of a rescue mission to save a man you happen to know, a man you claim to like. So for the love of God, just go. It’s too dangerous for you to be here.”

D is most definitely a badass, alpha male used to giving orders and wants his teammates to fear him. But somehow the petite, feisty, and very independent Sophia gets to him and makes him want more. He doesn’t want relationships or ties in any way, but he’s forced to re-evaluate a few things when Sophia is in danger.

“Why?”
He glanced over. “Anyone ever tell you that you ask a lot of questions?”
“Anyone ever tell you that answering questions with two-syllable responses is annoying?”

Sophia definitely challenges him as she’s not afraid of him like everyone else is. She sees him for who he is and brings out another side of him. D can be adorably cute, sweet, and vulnerable when it comes to Sophia.

Midnight Revenge is a drama-filled sexy suspense with many players who have competing agendas. Midnight Revenge can be read as a standalone. Elle Kennedy provided great dialogue as the ever determined heroine pushes her commanding hero to his limits. Ms. Kennedy creates an interesting world where it’s an ongoing battle to stay true to your honor and morals on and off the job. Fans of Megan Crane and Jessica Clare will enjoy Midnight Revenge.

He is tight-lipped and covered in tattoos, and even the other guys on his team are afraid to ask him about his past. D’s been off the grid for years, but after his teammate Sullivan is mistakenly captured in his place, D is forced to come out of hiding and face his demons.

When D lands in Mexico, he’s ready to risk everything to save his friend. To complicate matters, Sofia Amaro, a feisty doctor whom D had a one-night stand with months ago, has tracked him down. And in an instant she’s unintentionally caught up in his life-threatening rescue mission.

Now D must extract not one but two people from the most violent world he’s ever encountered. And one of them is carrying his child…

Have you had a chance to read Midnight Revenge yet? I hope you’re enjoying it!

I read this too – I wish there had been a warning about the sexual abuse sections (memories from childhood, and present time). I enjoyed it overall, but there were sections I wasn’t comfortable reading.

I can certainly understand that. I prefer when there is a warning, so readers have an idea of what they are getting into.

I was loving this book until I saw MariaRose comment. That is not a good subject for me either. Thanks for your review though.

I’m glad another MariaRose’s comment gave you information you would want about the book.
