In Moonlight Scandals (de Vincent #3) by Jennifer L. Armentrout, Rosie Herpin has always been interested in the local legend surrounding the scandalous de Vincent family. Who wouldn’t be? Especially living in New Orleans where myths and ghosts abound and where she spends time ghost hunting with a close group of friends. She never thought she would find herself face to face with one of the de Vincents, though. Or that her best friend would be nearly killed after being linked to one of the famous brothers. When Rosie gets pulled into it all while helping Nikki, she goes and falls for the eldest brother Devlin, aka the Devil. Unsure how they can go from a heated debate one moment to nearly ripping each other’s clothes off the next, Rosie knows she’s in trouble. She’s just not sure she cares, if dealing with the devil feels so good.

His lips parted as he stared down at her. He looked *affronted*. Like if he had pearls, he’d be clutching them. “Did you seriously just tell me I needed to get laid?”
Rosie rolled her eyes. “Did you seriously just prove what I said?”
A moment passed. “Are you volunteering?”
Her mouth dropped open so fast she was sure she was catching flies.

Being in the public eye and having a lifetime’s worth of secrets to guard, Devlin has learned to be rather distrustful. He’s not going to apologize for trying to keep his two younger bothers safe from the evil surrounding their family. It’s his job as the oldest. That’s why when beautiful Rosie keeps crossing paths with him, he wonders if it is coincidence or if she’s trying to capitalize on his name and wealth. Or is it even more sinister? Could Rosie be part of a plan to get details about de Vincent family secrets? Devlin hopes that for once in his life he has it all wrong and that she’s someone he can trust. Because he’s never felt so strongly about a woman ever before. Although he knows he has to proceed cautiously, as all of their lives depend upon it.

‘He was still rattled by the sight of her, still caught off guard by…by everything about her. He was held immobile by it, absolutely enthralled.’

Moonlight Scandals is the book fans have been waiting for in the thrilling and seductive de Vincent series. We finally got to know the Devil, aka Devlin de Vincent, a whole lot better while all the pieces of this twisted family drama fell into place. And you won’t believe the secrets uncovered!!

“People try to use us. People try to make money and their careers off our tragedies. I cannot be too careful. None of us can.”
“Look, I get that you have your reasons for always assuming the worst about someone, but you have been an ass to me more than you’ve been nice… I’m not going to be anyone’s verbal punching bag.”

What a crazy ride this book was! I should start off saying I highly recommend readers begin this series with book one because each installment has built up to this final part of the trilogy where everything fully came to light. I loved trying to piece things together with each story, but Jennifer L. Armentrout was pretty tricky throughout the series with how much info she doled out. And while I had some of the secrets nailed down, whoa…there were a couple of shocking turns that I didn’t see coming. You gotta enjoy it when an author can do that.

The first two books definitely had a cool Gothic feel to them but this one took it up a notch thanks to our heroine’s side gig as a ghost hunter and with the spooky de Vincent family curse making a big appearance. I had *so* much fun with Devlin and Rosie. The vibe between them was scorching hot chemistry mixed with tons of laugh-out-loud bantering. It’s always a fine line with animosity in romances for me but I had a ball with these two and their feisty dispositions. Devlin could be quite rude unfortunately. And he cut Rosie down a few times, angering her–and me on her behalf. But there were so many things behind our hero’s prickly attitude. Things that have been hinted at in previous books but that were explained in detail here. And it honestly was heartbreaking to see what the de Vincent siblings have been through, specifically how much Dev sacrificed for the family. Ugh…sniffle.

With a totally crazy family dynamic, screaming hot attraction between our hero and heroine, and some ghost hunting in NOLA, Moonlight Scandals had it all and then some. I highly recommend this series and think readers who like some darkness in their romances will fall head over heels for the de Vincent saga.
