My Forbidden Royal Fling by Clare Connelly is an exciting and fast paced adventure told in first person narrative.
It must be harder to create the Presents world in first person narrative and I think Clare Connelly did a great job. The highlights between the two characters were captured well. Freja is months away from being crowned Queen. She’s perfect and has never put a pretty foot out of line. Santiago is a stunning and mysterious Spaniard vying for Freja to sign off his latest build, a huge casino in Marlsdoven, worth billions to the failing economy. Portrayed as dark and mysterious, his struggles with right and wrong showed.
Chemistry was instant. When Santiago offers Freja an out of this world experience in Spain, she jumps in head first. With no experience in men and about to face a lifetime of a loveless marriage Santiago’s world is beyond compare. The inevitable parting of ways was felt.
Not a huge fan of first-person narrative in the Presents novels but as the story got going and the scenes were set I really enjoyed the change. The story was fast paced, my emotions were stirred and I really liked Santiago and how the author portrayed him, I liked the way things were resolved and the epilogue caught a wonderful glimpse of their happy ever after.
Quite an exciting story, I felt like I didn’t want to leave their world and launch into another one when I finished. Thank you Clare Connelly.
