My Professor by R.S. Grey: He is the absolute last person that I should have any feelings for but there is just something about Professor Barclay that I just can’t seem to get enough of, even when the man is berating me in front of the entire lecture hall there is something so alluring about him. But obviously nothing can come from it even after sharing one very steamy moment together in a dimly lit club bathroom… fast forward four years and it would seem that really nothing has changed when it comes to my attraction for Professor Barclay only this time round not only his he my former Professor but now he is my boss… and as much as I had hope he most definitely remembers me and our one steamy moment… and things are about to get a whole more steamy…

Im going to start of by saying the R.S Grey has always been a favourite author of mine, I would go as fas as to say there has never been a book of her’s that I have not totally love but I can’t help but feel torn after reading My Professor. Now don’t get me wrong I enjoyed reading this book, in fact I read it all in one sitting but there just felt like there was something missing for me. It almost felt like she was trying to go the BDSM route but she was just holding back. Now this is not to say that build up was not there, it was in spades but it just felt like Grey didn’t want to all the way. Nevertheless this was not a deal breaker for me, the over all book read well and in true Grey style she had me hooked wanting to know if Emelia and Jonathan finally get their acts together.

I really liked Emelia’s character, there was something so relatable about her and the way we get to see thing progress through her eyes felt very natural. I loved her passion and drive to achieve her degree in architectural restoration so that she could complete her mothers dream of restoring their old Scottish castle. It was also really nice that this love for old buildings connected Emelia and Jonathan, I liked that as much as they had this intense physical pull the intellectual chemistry was just as on point. Our girl Emelia really had a lot going on in this book not only was she dealing with her mixed confused feelings for Jonathan but she also got to finally meet her stepbrothers after having no interactions all their lives. I really enjoyed getting to see the relationship between Emelia and the Mercier boys develop and grow. I do hope this was Grey’s way of setting up base of a possible series with Emmett and Alexander getting their own books in the future, fingers crossed on this one!

Now for our hottie Professor Jonathan Barclay, well lets just say that he was working the whole hot alpha vibe down to an art. I loved that he was so confident really a peacock of a character. I will say that I just loved his already formed connection to Emelia, even before they officially meet each other, this was a really cute little add on to their story. I loved that he was in love with her even before he himself knew her or could admit his feelings for her. I really liked that for all his straight laced all business attitude he was actually a softie and this was very clear in those soft moments with Emelia. I will say I do wish that we got to see a bit more of the entire professor/student dynamic play out but this was neither here nor there really.

My Professor was definitely a slow burn romance with little nuggets of steam laced throughout the novel. Would I recommend this book? Yes, definitely the story was addictive in that you just needed to know what would happen next, will they finally give into their undeniable pull, can they make their work relationship work, and most importantly will they get a happily ever after. As a die hard R.S Grey fan I can’t help but want this book to form the beginning of a series for the Mercier siblings, I need to know if Jonathan tells Emelia that he was totally consumed by her from her courtyard days, and I need to know the story behind Alexander and Emmett!! My Professor does not follow Grey’s regular writing style but this book is worth checking out!

Young and naïve—those are his exact words.
Professor Barclay views me as a nuisance, a disruption of his otherwise obedient class and perfectly regimented life. His bad impression of me stems from a simple misunderstanding, and when that impression sours from bad to worse, he decides to make an example out of me in front of the entire class. Every other female student in that auditorium looks on, longing to trade places with me, wishing they were the object of his attention. It’s humiliating. I want nothing to do with him or the tension growing between us, but he feels inescapable.

Deep down, I know I have a crush on him. It’s a shameful feeling I refuse to give life to.
Not that it matters—nothing can come from it. Besides our mutual dislike for one another and the fact that he’s my professor, there’s an age gap that should be warning enough.
While we might cross the line once—the dark glance across a dimly lit bar…the metallic sound of the bathroom door locking behind us…his hand slowly sliding up my skirt—I know it’s a boundary I can’t break again.

Now, more than ever, he’s off-limits.
After four years apart, I’m a brand-new hire at his firm. I’ve convinced myself he won’t remember me. I’m safe here in the wolf’s den.
It’s funny, isn’t it? How easily we can delude ourselves if only we want something bad enough.

Nothing has changed.

That same friction roils between us. My gaze still flees from the chill of his glacier blue eyes. I try to stay out of his way, to keep my distance, but like always we feel inevitable. Fate seems to think I belong in the arms of my old professor, and raging against fate…well, that’s a battle we’re all bound to lose.
