After all its been five years since she last saw Lane sure the man must have lost his pull over her…right? But with old feeling burning as bright as ever Scout can’t help but wonder if maybe having Lane back in her life is fates way of giving them a second chance…
LOVED!!! This book was pure perfection! I loved the first book in this series and loved this book just as much! Call me a sucker for a cute romance with an animal in it and I can not argue! Pets Of Park Avenue was the perfect combination of emotionally moving second chance love story, cute animal involvement and some major personal growth. I loved every moment of this book and I just can not wait to get my hands on the next instalment in this series!
“Why are you looking closely?” She asked, choosing to switch up her tactics and go on the offensive.
“Because, despite knowing better, I am still fascinated by you.”
We first meet Scout in Isla’s book and I could already tell that she was going to be an interesting character to follow and boy was I right. I just loved our girl Scout, I only wish that she could love herself as much as everyone else around her does! It really broke my heart getting into her backstory and seeing the way her family treated her, gosh this was just rough and no one should ever have to go though feeling unwanted! But if anything this only motivated Scout to become a better version of herself and to prove to her grandparents that she was the right role model for her younger sister. I loved that Scout was so driven and passionate about her role in Paw In The City and really finding her spot in life. The thing I liked the most about Scout was how relatable she felt and this made getting to see her find her confidence and self worth all the more rewarding, it also didn’t hurt that she was realising that she was still in love with her husband!
Lane was a total sweetheart! This guy was one of the nicest heroes that I have ever read! I loved that he still had this major soft spot for Scout and even though she broke his heart he only wanted the best for her. I liked the fact that Lane had his own story arch aside from the romantic one with Scout, we got to see him rebuild his relationship with his family and really learn to forgive and more on. But more than anything I love what a great dog dad he was to Star! Gosh the bond between these two was just the cutest! I absolutely loved the fact that this big business tech man had a cute little fluffy white dog that he would move heaven and earth for!
“Scout’s breath stuck in the back of her throat, his words hitting her heart like a sledgehammer. No man had ever made her – the real her – feel so utterly seen the way he did. It had been more intoxicating than any of those fish-bowl-sized cocktails they’d drunk that first night in Vegas”
I really enjoyed getting to follow the story through both Lane and Scout’s perspectives and getting to see them both realise that they have always been perfect for each other. The chemistry between these two was just amazing, I loved getting to see them come back together and both dance around the clear attraction while also thinking about how amazing their time together was. I loved seeing them support each other and really just falling in love again. As for our cute little Star, well she knew all along that Lane and Scout were meant to be and she really helped give them a bit of a push!
Family played a huge role in this book for both Scout and Lane. I do think that with better communication a lot of the drama between Scout and her grandparents could have been avoided but really they should have been nicer to her! I really liked the few bits that we got to see off Scout and Lizzie together building their sister bond. Whereas Lane’s issue with his brother felt a bit rushed for me but this was nothing major.
Pets Of Park Avenue is a total must read! This cute second chance love story will have your heart melting while you tear up as you root on our leading couple find their way to a second chance at forever happiness!

What do you do when The One is also the one who broke your heart?
Self-proclaimed hot mess Scout Myers is determined to prove she’s finally got her act together. Raised by grandparents who saw her as her wayward mother’s wayward daughter, Scout’s used to being written off. So when the opportunity for a promotion arises at Paws in the City, the talent agency where she works, Scout is desperate to rise to the occasion. With shared custody of her little sister also on the line, Scout can’t afford a single mistake…like suddenly needing a canine stand-in for an important photoshoot. Luckily (or not) she knows the owner of the perfect pup replacement: the estranged husband she walked out on years ago.
On the surface, it appears Lane Halliday’s life has been blissfully drama free without Scout, but she suspects her handsome-as-ever not-quite-ex-husband doth protest too much. Working together even feels like old times—except for all that lingering, unresolved tension. But Scout’s not sure she’s ready to confront the reasons she left Lane, and when their plans to finalize the divorce become very real, Scout starts to wonder whether second chances might be worth a little hot mess.
