Raw Deal by Cherrie Lynn: Mike had a rough childhood and had no option but to fight for his brothers. He turned that need to fight into quite a career and has become a very successful and popular MMA fighter. He’s dedicated and loyal to his brothers. But after his last fight, he’s not sure if he can get back into the cage. His opponent died after their fight, and while he was cleared of any wrongdoing, he can’t quite get past the guilt.

Savannah is a little lost without her brother. She hated that he was a fighter and could barely make it through his matches watching. She’s struggling to come to terms with how Tommy died and how to move on. It doesn’t help that her sister-in-law, Rowan, blames Mike for Tommy’s death.

When Mike unexpectedly shows up to give his condolences, Savannah is shocked. She never expected to have to see Tommy’s last opponent in person. Mike is so very different in person than the fighter she last saw preparing for the fight or in the cage. He’s still intimidating, but she can see the pain. Both were surprised when she takes him up on his offer of a distraction.

“I do love the beach,” she said softly. Out on the stage, the next number kicked off to a loud, appreciative cheer. “We only have swamps. But Rowan…”
“If you want to keep it on the down low,” he said, “I can pick you up at your hotel after the limo takes you back. She doesn’t ever have to know.”

Their attraction seems impossible. Savannah knows how her family feels about Mike, but he soothes and comforts her in a way that nothing else has. Wanting each other only comes with complications, but they find a connection that is shockingly hard to walk away from. It doesn’t help that Mike could get back into the cage and resume a career that terrifies her.

“Savannah. What do you want? Not Rowan, not your family, not even me. This weekend, this night, is for you. So you tell me what you want, and I’ll do it, whatever it is, whatever it takes.”

Raw Deal has angst, heat, drama, and healing. Cherrie Lynn engaging characters in a unique situation with great chemistry. Ms. Lynn provided unique secondary characters in Mike’s brothers who should make for interesting stories in the coming books. Fans of Jennifer Fusco and Melissa Foster will enjoy Raw Deal.

I love her two paranormals, if you’re into that genre, I’d recommend them. If not, her Ross siblings series is really good too.
