REVIEW: Rebel’s Bargain by Annie West

Rebel’s Bargain by Annie West is the seventh part in the ongoing Chatsfield series and can be easily read as a standalone. Five years ago when Poppy Rebels-Bargainby-Annie-WestGraham married Orsino Chatsfield in a much published wedding, she did not expect her marriage end in a mass of misunderstandings. When Orisino let her down in her darkest hour, she realized she could not stay with him anymore. Their split was bitter, and Poppy has strived for her independence and acceptance ever since. But now her arrogant husband is back…

Injured in a climbing accident, Orisino turns to his wife when she comes to see him to demand a divorce. They have unfinished business, and he’ll face it before he walks away forever. But the blazing passion between them reignites in an instant, leaving Orsino to wonder whether it will kill or cure!

Rebel’s Bargain by Annie West is a well written romance with a galore of misunderstandings as its major conflict and an integral part of the plot.

Orisino is a flawed character and it is clear that he has made many mistakes in his marriage by neglecting her most of the time. He has had a motherless childhood like the rest of his siblings whose stories are told in the other books in this series and it is one of the reason he is an adrenaline junkie. I both admired and liked Poppy because she was not a perfect character. She too made a mistake which was the breaking point of her marriage but I don’t blame her for it because I believe that even if she had not done what she did, her marriage was not going to last long given their circumstances.

If you prefer traditional Presents heroine who have the lower hand in the story then stay away from this one because you might not like Poppy. The story was fast paced and set in the Himalayas and a chateau in France. I loved the chemistry between the characters which had not diminished an iota given their long separation.

Overall, Rebel’s Bargain by Annie West is an enjoyable romance which does not fail to keep you hooked to the story.
