Remind Me (Chasing Fire #1) by Ann Marie Walker, Amy K. Rogers: The very last place Hudson Chase wants to be is at yet another charity benefit until he sees Alessandra Sinclair, the Remind-Meone woman who broke his heart ten years ago. A lot can change in ten years as Hudson is now a powerful CEO and self-made man. Alessandra is a good girl who has always been very aware of her privilege and what is expected of her.

When they meet again, the attraction is just as strong as it was when they were teenagers. Hudson is determined to pursue Allie again, if nothing else than to get her out of his system and out of his head. Allie is engaged to a man with her parents’ stamp of approval, but he doesn’t make her feel the way that Hudson does.

“Is that a sense of humor, Mr. Chase?”
“A man in my position isn’t afforded much of one, but it’s in there somewhere.”
The irony of his statement wasn’t lost on her. “Must be the only thing you can’t afford. Chase Industries has quite an impressive portfolio.”
“How proficient you are with Google, Miss Sinclair.” He raised a brow. “Checking up on me?”

Allie has lived her life pleasing her parents and never rocking the boat, which is a large part of why their relationship was a secret ten years ago. Hudson tempts Allie to break out of the mold and do what would make her happy rather than to protect and advance her family’s image. Allie is confused and torn over whether her future should be with Hudson or her fiancé.

Hudson has a small window in which to remind Allie just how good they are together. The more time that they are together, the more Hudson is convinced that the conditions Allie put in place just won’t work. Hudson is quite open, but there are some areas of his life where he shuts Allie out.

What the hell was that all about? Hudson had hustled her out of the room so quickly. Allie’s heart sank. Was that how she made him feel? Like she was ashamed to be seen with him? It couldn’t have been further from the truth. Under normal circumstances she’d have been proud to be on his arm. But her situation was far from normal.

Remind Me is a Romeo and Juliet-type story except they have a second chance at love. Remind Me is the first book in a new series, so there is a bit of a cliffhanger and the ending seemed a little abrupt. Some of the revelations around key plot points were not very surprising.

Ann Marie Walker and Amy K. Rogers created a sexy yet loyal, thoughtful, and vulnerable hero in Hudson. Ms. Walker and Ms. Rogers showcased the palpable chemistry between Hudson and Allie. Readers who enjoy sexy, dominant, billionaire heroes and second chance stories will enjoy Remind Me.

Thanks for the review, Kim. Since you said it ends abruptly with a bit of a cliffhanger, I’m curious if the next book will also be about these characters…or about another set of characters?

From the excerpt at the end, it sounds like Allie and Hudson’s story continues in the next book.
