Roman Reunion (Destination: Desire #3) by Crystal Jordan, is a steamy and touching second chance romance. It is the story about almost divorced couple Karen and Tate Patton. Karen and Tate met and fell in love as exchange students while studying in Rome approximately a decade ago. Their married life started out grand, but Tate’s dedication as an attorney in his father’s law firm slowly took over his life and as a result, Karen was alone most of the time. She enjoys her job as a librarian and spending time with her very best friends, however, it did not take the place of a “never to be around” husband. She was lonely, wanted to start a family and most of all, spend time with her husband. After eight years of being in a marriage by herself, Karen finally had enough. She filed for divorce, moved back to her hometown, and found an even better job.
Karen and Tate find themselves in Italy once again to attend the wedding of their good friends Valentina and Gio, who they just happened to have introduced when they were in Rome years ago. The ambiance of being in The Eternal City for a second time, while being surrounded by a blissfully happy couple, helps to reignite the passion that Kate and Tate once shared. Furthermore, Tate’s decision to quit his demanding job along with his equally demanding father, evolves their passion into mind-blowing sex. Karen and Tate are still in love, but Kate is afraid to trust her heart to Tate once again.
I enjoyed this entertaining, slightly emotional love story. To begin with, a setting in the magnetic city of Rome automatically puts me in the frame-of-mind for a love story. Secondly, Ms. Jordan’s ability to incorporate the romance of Rome along with the great history that surrounds it is quite interesting. Lastly, the main characters are so down to earth, I was able to feel Karen’s loneliness along with Tate’s need to get her to trust him again.
Overall, this is a nicely written story about regret, learning to trust again, and the ability to accept the past and move on to a future filled with love.
