Rush the Edge by S.J. Sylvis: Daisy thought she had life all figured out, well that is until a life changing diagnosis forced her to slow down. Returning home to Chicago was supposed to be a fresh start, not a reunion with Kane Barlow, the infuriatingly handsome hockey player who’s always known how to get under her skin. But staying with her older brother means that Kane is going to be in her face a lot! Somewhere along the line old sparks reignite and icy glares turn into steamy stolen moments and teasing turns to something real… now Daisy must decide if she can let Kane in, even when everything feels uncertain. The thing is Kane isn’t just her brother’s best friend anymore, he is also the one person who sees her strength even in the struggle. And this time, walking away might not be an option…

Okay let me just say it, I loved this book. Now I didn’t think I would like it as much as I did, because I was so sure that Daisy being sick would lead to some sad ending but Rush The Edge actually surprised me in the best way possible. Instead of being a sappy cry fest this was more a second chance, live life to its fullest kind of book, with loads of steamy banter filled moments. As far as forbidden, sports romances go I can easily say this was right up there on my list of favourites.

Im not going to lie, going in I had assumed that Daisy was going to be this sick, weak girl, but gosh was I wrong! Daisy was witty, independent and did not allow her illness to hold her back from living her best life possible. Even when she was faced with challenges or left overwhelmed, she did not back down, our girl pulled up her big girl pants and pushed on. Simply put she was a total fighter. I really liked the fact at the end of the day she didn’t need anyone to save her, she simply wanted someone to fully understand her.

Now for our hero, Kane, well he was layered and just perfectly himself. I really liked the fact that he was so torn between following his heart and feeling for Daisy and his loyalty to her brother, his best friend. If this doesn’t already tell you he is a good guy, I don’t know what more you need. I really enjoyed getting to see Kane peel back his layers and show us that he is so much more than just a cocky hockey player, but actually a soft and sensitive guy that never wants to hurt the people close to him. While he might shine as a snarky sass pot, Kane was actually really thoughtful and considerate and he made sure to research all he could on Lupus, so that he can be best equipped to support Daisy when she needs help, now that right there just melted my heart and won Kane major brownie points in my book.

I just adored both of main characters, Daisy and Kane together were just electric. Their banter and the underlying tension just made for some incredible build up. With their past relationship lingering in the background, adding an element of unfinished business that only amped up their tension and the enemies to lovers feeling that these two were rocking for most of the first half of the book. I really enjoyed getting to see them lowering their guards and allowing each other to be there for support and unconditional love. These two characters allowed each other to be completely unfiltered and completely themselves while being together in their safe bubble.

All in all Rush The Edge was just perfection, I loved all the small tender moments between Daisy and Kane, their sassy banter filled showdowns and everything in-between. If you are looking for a cute, sweet sports romance with a touch of forbidden romance then this is the book for you!

I never would have moved to Chicago, if I had known he would be there.

Moving to a brand new city to share an apartment with my older brother was bad enough.

Becoming neighbors with Kane Barlow, my brother’s arrogant pro-hockey-playing best friend, was just the cherry on top of the dumpster fire my life has become.

Did I mention that Kane is also the guy I had a secret fling with years ago?

I haven’t seen him since and let’s just say his icy glares and frigid demeanor are reason enough for me to get my own place.

Little does he know, I’m in Chicago for a reason that has nothing to do with him. So what if his snide remarks and attempts to get under my skin are wildly entertaining? I came here for stability – not distractions, and definitely not the kind with infuriating smirks.

But the more we clash, the more the tension between us shifts. His icy glares turn into heated glances, and our aversion to being around each other quickly morphs into secret trysts and spicy moments we swore we didn’t want.

The line between love and hate is razor-thin – and this time, we’re both rushing towards the edge.
