Scandalized by Ivy Owens: Georgia Ross is on the cusp of making it big as an investigative journalist, with an article that could make or break her career the last thing she needs to hear is that all flights out to L.A have been cancelled! This is definitely not something anyone ever wants to hear, but things begin to look up for Georgia when she sees a major blast from her past Alec Kim, her childhood best friends older brother and her teenage crush.
Somewhere between spending the night in a shared hotel room getting reacquainted sparks begin to fly between Gigi and Alec. As it turns out Gigi is not the only person that is at the top of her professional game, Alec is doing pretty well for himself as famous KDrama actor. With both of them still tingling from their steamy night together, the two decide to take advantage of the two weeks that they have together in L.A, but what happens when some very real feelings begin to develop?
Scandalised just worked for me, this insta love romcom had just the right combination of super cute insta chemistry mixed in with some old hidden feelings. I have to say that Owens has done a really good job with touching on a few sensitive topics while still keeping this a sweet light read. One of the things that I really liked was the fast pace of this book, everything happened in the space of two weeks, it really was a whirlwind love story.
“You’re going to make me love you, aren’t you?”
He doesn’t even falter, in step or breath. He says only, “I’m sure going to try.”
Both Gigi and Alec were incredibly like able characters, which made rooting them on so easy. I loved the fact that they had this shared past that helped make them fall into such an easy relationship. I just loved Gigi and the fact that she was such a determined journalist, her passion and drive to get her story were both admirable and inspiring. As for our charming KDrama actor Alec, well to be fair there was nothing not to like about him. He was sweet, charming and down to earth.
Good gosh did this book deliver on the steam factor in buckets! The chemistry and passion between Gigi and Alec was pretty undeniable and getting to see them falling in love as the reconnected was just heart meltingly sweet. I really liked the fact that their connection hinged on a more tender and soft feeling rather than only focusing on their physical connection.
As much as this was a sweet love story Owen does touch on a few sensitive topics that link both Gigi and Alec and the environments that they both work in. I have to say that Owen has done a really good job in writing about the sex trafficking industry as well as sexual violence and sexual assault. This can be a bit of a touchy subject for some readers so read with caution.
Overall Scandalised was an all round hit, this book packs in the steam and the swoons. Definitely worth checking out!
