REVIEW: School Ties by Tamsen Parker

School Ties by Tamsin Parker: Erin Brewster teaches at an all-boys boarding school. A boarding school she has been going to since she was little. Another faculty member comes on to Erin and before they know they are pregnant. Only there is no love, just an inconvenience, at least according to the guy. When the head of the school hears about their problem, he orders them to get married or lose their jobs.

“It’s stupid, but I always thought there was some way for us to be together. Fantasies of getting her alone after I had my diploma in hand and telling her I love her.”

Zachary Shepherd, otherwise known as Shep, is not happy to hear that Erin is pregnant. He’s a senior at the school and has wanted her since he first saw her, but now that’s not an option. Finding out Erin is pregnant makes him miserable. Erin’s marriage isn’t starting off on the right foot and it only gets worse from there, but she gets through it.

Shep graduates and their lives go on, but now he’s back as a teacher. When Shep went to college, he learned a few things, specifically, some BDSM stuff. Suffice to say, Erin and Shep can’t stay away from each other and when they’re together, they are free to explore their desires.

I liked Shep as a character. He’s quiet, caring, and devoted to his brother. The BDSM part of him was a little weird. I felt like that part came out of nowhere and there wasn’t much background into his experience level. The BDSM parts are really light, but still pretty hot.

I couldn’t really get into this book and I tried…really hard, but it just didn’t happen. There is a lot of internal dialogue and Erin acts like a school girl for most the book. I expected more but didn’t get it. As usual, just because the book didn’t click for me, doesn’t mean it won’t be a good read for you.
