REVIEW: She’s No Angel by Kira Sinclair

She’s No Angel by Kira Sinclair is the second book about the happenings in the tourist town of Sweetheart, South Carolina and another one is in the works for a September release.

Alexis Harper, Lexi, is a product of the small town of Sweetheart, South Carolina. Due to her older brother’s shenanigans, she always listened to her parents and stayed in the background. Lexi turned to chocolate for her happiness and consequently, was overweight most of her life. The constant teasing and tormenting by her peers and etiquette teacher Mrs. Copeland, created the insecure person she is today. Nasty Mrs. Copeland still takes a jab at Lexi whenever the opportunity presents itself, and Lexi relives the hurt with each jab. However, as an adult, she is able to handle it better. Now Lexi is much slimmer and owns her own very successful confectionery store, Sugar and Spice. She maintains her weight by only tasting her delicious creations because indulging is not an option.

Lexi is a caring, beautiful woman, but her insecurities foreshadow her true self. Her ex-boyfriend Brandon, used her to get a story about her brother, a former POW. So she has no love life and is very wary of any man that shows any interest. Trust is almost an impossibility.

Architect Brett Newcomb of Bowen Enterprises is a handsome, successful businessman. His father left him, his mother, and his brother when he was only nine years old, and so he had to grow up very quickly. His dream is to earn enough money to open his own architectural firm. He hates working for the tightwad Bowen, but the bonus from the Sweetheart deal will make his dreams come true. He is in Sweetheart to convince the community to build a huge, tasteless resort along the water on the other side of town. He is viewed as the enemy. The mayor and the town council have denied Bowen’s request for building. A resort would really put Sweetheart on the map, however Bowen’s plans do not add value to the small town ambiance.

Lexi and Brett meet on two separate occasions and there is an instant spark. The begin to spend time together and truly enjoy each other. Brett has never been in love and his feelings for Lexi are nothing that he has ever experienced. Their hot, steamy romance has them both panting with want and lust. Chocolate is the main ingredient in one of their many rendezvouses. Little by little, Lexi begins to trust Brett and falls in love as well. However, Brett’s honesty ends up backfiring, they break up and Brett returns to Philadelphia. Luckily, after two weeks of longing and decision-making, Brett figures out a solution for the tourist town and he and Lexi are together again.

She’s No Angel by Kira Sinclair is a hot and literally yummy romance. The author writes with a lot of passion and emotion, which completely draws the reader into the story.
