When trying to write the review for Snow on the Bayou (Tante Lulu Adventure #1) by Sandra Hill, I truly don’t know where to start. Ok, you know how some people talk about a book hangover……well, I guess you can say that I know have a ragin, cajun, bayou hangover, because this book is still on my mind. YES it is that good.

SotBJustin “Cage” LeBlanc was run out of his Louisiana home seventeen years ago. Given the choice of joining the Navy or going to prison, Justin left his family, the few friends he had, and the girl he loved. Now a Lieutenant Second Class Navy SEAL, Justin vowed never to return until “Snow fell on the Bayou”. When his beloved MawMaw is diagnosed with stage four lung cancer, Justin has no choice but to return to his Bayou roots and stay with her till the end. What he didn’t count on were the old, what he thought long gone feelings for Emelie Gaudet to come back strong as ever, making him question all the plans he ever made.

Emelie Gaudet, part time blues singer, full time artist is just as shocked as anyone at the news that the Terrabone Parrish wild child is back in town. Hiding secrets and baring the pain of the past, Emelie wants nothing to do with Justin and his wicked ways. But the new Justin who stands before her is so very different than the boy who broke her heart so long ago, and the feelings that sizzle between these two simply cannot be denied.

When a plot to cause problems in Louisianan is uncovered, Justin is joined by his fellow SEALS to try to save his Bayou home. But between secrets from the past, misunderstandings, hurts, anger and loss, it is up to Justin and Emelie to decide if risking a second chance at forever and always is worth the possibility of losing everything.

This book is about loss, this book is about secrets, this book is about reconnecting with your roots, finding your way home and getting a second chance at love with the one person you are meant to spend your life with. It is about the humor of nosy old Cajun women who know what is best, it is about making peace with the ghosts of the past, it is about the power of love and of course St. Jude (cause let’s face it, St. Jude is the saint of lost causes and we are all a little lost sometimes.). This books made me laugh, this book made me cry, this book touched me in ways that I can still hear the characters speaking in my head. If you love a second chance at love, if you enjoy a book with humor, a book about family ties and roots deep in the Bayou mud, than I highly recommend Snow on the Bayou, you will be thankful you grabbed this book. I give it 5 ragin, cajun stars.

Joining the Navy was the second best thing that ever happened to Justin “Cage” LeBlanc, the rebel son of a no-account convict. The first was Emelie Gaudet, the love of his life . . . until he was forced to leave town and swore there would be snow on the bayou before he ever returned. Now, only his mortally ill grandma can bring the injured Navy SEAL back to Terrebone Parrish, where he must face his past-and Emelie, who’s even more beautiful than she was all those years ago.

Bourbon Street blues singer Emelie is once bitten, twice shy. When she learns that Justin is back in town, she wants nothing to do with the once wild Cajun teenager who fled with the law on his tail-and broke her heart. But she can’t deny the red-hot attraction between them . . . or his efforts to prove he’s finally changed his hell-raising ways. Can she trust that this time the bad boy of the bayou will be the best man for her?
