In Something Sweeter (Sweet, Texas #3) by Candis Terry, Veterinarian Jesse Wilder has set aside his own romantic aspirations until he sees everyone in his family has found their soul mate first. Let the townspeople of Sweet, Texas, call him a heartbreaker. He doesn’t care as long as his family is happy. But then he meets Allison Lane and all logic flies out the window. All Jesse can think of is the next time he gets to see Allison and how to change her mind about true love. The sassy event planner won’t be convinced that there really is someone out there for everyone. So it’s up to Jesse to prove he’s right and hopefully win her heart in the process.
“Darlin’…” His Texas drawl came out deep, smooth, and sexy as he propped his arm on the seat behind her and leaned in. “You can deny it till the cows come home, but you are as hot for me as I am for you.”
She opened her mouth to protest, then clamped it shut because she’d never been a liar.
Allison Lane’s view on love is a bit skewed to say the least. Her parents had a disastrous relationship while she was growing up and that has influenced her opinion on the subject substantially. When she sets about making sure her father’s fiancee is as nice as he says she is, Allison gets thrown into the midst of the Wilder family. And one guy in particular steals her attention: Jesse. Knowing she has to go back home to Seattle shortly, Allison decides to enjoy the time she has with him for now. But will it be enough to satisfy her?
‘More than anything, she wanted to believe there were people on this earth who were truly meant to be together till death did them part.’
Something Sweeter is a wonderfully fun & flirty romance set in the lovely town of Sweet, Texas, where the Wilder family keeps everyone on their toes. Especially the ladies.
Okay. So I’ll admit I’m partial to a good old Southern boy. I should be, considering I’m happily married to one! But there is something very special about the Wilder men that keeps me interested in their story every time. For me, I think it’s that laid-back attitude, their great sense of humor, and the sexy/flirty manner they have about them. And it doesn’t hurt that Jana, their momma, raised them knowing how to treat a lady right. I mean, who wouldn’t love a guy who opens the door for you and is attentive, but still all alpha male, right?
Author Candis Terry always does a fabulous job of keeping the dialogue quick and light when it should be, and serious as needed. And that was very apparent with Jesse and Allison. From the first time they met in the local bar, sparks flew and the bantering began. I loved them as a couple. They were both pretty selfless people, putting their family’s happiness first, so it was nice to see something positive happen to them for a change. It wasn’t an easy road to their HEA, especially considering Jesse had to try to convince Allison HEAs do exist, but it was worth it in the end.
If you like your romances heavy on the Southern charm and full of warm, engaging characters, definitely check out Something Sweeter.

The men in Texas are hard to resist . . .
Seattle event planner Allison Lane is an expert at delivering the perfect wedding—even if she might not exactly believe in the whole “’til death do us part” thing. When her father decides to tie the knot with a woman he barely knows, Allison heads to Sweet, Texas, to make sure his new honey is the real deal. What she didn’t expect to find at the local honky-tonk was a sexy Southern man as bent on charming her pants off as he is on blowing her “true love doesn’t exist” theory all to hell.
And they always promise . . .
Veterinarian, former Marine, and Sweet’s favorite playboy Jesse Wilder takes one look at Allison and knows she’s a handful of trouble he can’t deny. But even after a sizzling kiss and obvious mutual attraction, it seems Allison has no such problem. When Jesse uncovers her sweet side, can he crush his playboy image, melt her cynical heart, and change her mind about taking a trip down the aisle?
