Southern Heart by Natasha Madison: Fresh out of nursing college Chelsea finds herself heading home to start her new life, however the last thing she expect was to find the man that she had been crushing on for years at her door all bruised and bloody. Mayson has been a part of her life for years being her older brothers friend but this time it’s Chelsea that finds herself in close confines with the wounded solider.
“I see a man who deserves all the love in the world. I see a man who deserves people who stand with him and protect him. I see a man who deserves everything.”
Mayson has not had the easiest of starts to life with a rough childhood he finally found his escape with the military. Living a life of minimal commitment or being tied to anyone Mayson finds himself coming back home to a quiet cabin in the woods. However when Mayson is the victim of a vicious attack he finds himself turning to the one person he knows that will care for him no questions asked. After having Chelsea nurse him back to health it’s now up to Mayson to keep her safe against the treat that still leaks in the dark. However danger is not the only thing that’s leaking around the corner, with Mayson and Chelsea in such close quarters old feelings being to surface, feelings that Mayson never thought would happen for him.
“You are the most beautiful person I have ever met…From the moment I’ve seen you, you’ve been the woman I’m chasing in my dreams.”
This book just blew me away with the swoony sweet romance between these two characters! Southern Heart is the fifth book in the Southern series, this time we get Mayson and Chelsea’s beautifully emotional suspenseful love story. I absolutely loved watching these two try and fight their attraction for each other, Mayson really tried with all his might to keep his distance from Chelsea to keep her safe but she never once backed down of she’d away from standing by his side and fighting for him and along side him.
“I have loved this man for the past fucking eight years. Waiting, hoping that he would somehow see me as not just your little sister but a woman who wanted nothing more than for him to notice.”
“I noticed you,” I say, pushing her hair behind her ear. “I noticed you. I noticed all of you.”
Chelsea was just amazing, I loved that she was a strong woman and that she didn’t hide away when things got dangerous and scary. She stood up and fought for him even when he tried to pull back. It was beautiful watching her almost breath life back into Mayson’s darkness. As for our hero Mayson, my heart just broke for this broken angel. He really has not had the easiest life but I loved watching him open up and be vulnerable and to allow Chelsea to love him. The guy we get to see once he opens his heart to love was just swoon worthy!
“You have my heart.” He looks up at me. “For the rest of my life until my last dying breath, you have my heart.”
The connection between these two was just beautiful they were so connected and passionate. I absolutely loved seeing them declare their relationship to their friends and family and Ethan’s big brother reaction was just so hilarious! I loved that even though they were living in this perfect little bubble of their love there was some very real danger out there, this just added another brilliant layer to the story keeping you guessing when the other shoe will drop.
Southern Heart was the perfect suspense filled, swoony romance that stole my heart right from the get go, I would definitely recommend reading this novel!

Chelsea
Coming back home was supposed to be normal.
Not that my life had ever been normal, but it was getting there.
Then I opened the door and found a man—broken, bloodied, and fighting for his life.
I don’t know why, but I said I would take care of him. I had to. Needed to.
He was a mystery, showing up from out of nowhere. But he might have already stolen my heart.
Mayson Carey
The only thing I have ever wanted in my entire life was to forget who I was. Joining the military helped me do this.
Keep your head down and glide through life was my new motto. No strings, no relationships. Nothing.
Everything was working until a knock at the door had me face-to-face with the reason I was running.
So I ran—I fell into her arms, and she fell into my heart, but I know better than to think it’ll last.
Some secrets have a way of coming back and haunting us, no matter how much we try to bury them.
