Spring Forward by Catherine Anderson: Crystal is a loyal granddaughter struggling to keep it all together. When she’s not trying to appease her proud yet aging grandfather, Tuck, she is chasing after his scarily intelligent and headstrong dog, Rip. She’s a great hairdresser with a thriving business, but Rip’s antics might cost her the business as he runs away almost daily.

Tanner is a dedicated and devoted dad. He’s given up his demanding business so he can spend more time with his two kids. Delivering packages is a good job which helps to pay the bills and allows him to get home at a decent time. He’s a sexy, charming single dad and after losing his wife years ago, he’s not really looking for a relationship.

Tanner and Tuck have been good friends for a while, so Tanner thinks nothing of doing a favor for his buddy. But that one favor puts him at odds with Crystal. Crystal and Tanner are surprised to realize that they’ve met before and that there is an attraction that they just might want to explore. They bond over their affection for Tuck and Rip.

Hands still riding his hips, he turned to face her. “It doesn’t feel right to tell you things about Rip that Tuck didn’t share with you.”
“Oh, for heaven’s sake! It’s a dog, and I’m in charge of caring for him. I need to know what I’m up against.”

Tanner and Crystal become fast friends and it isn’t long before both want more. It seems like a perfect fit since neither are looking for love. Tanner proves himself to be a really stand-up guy who is generous, supportive, caring, and protective. Crystal faces a dilemma when she finds herself caring for Rip, an adorable kitten, Tanner, and his kids when she’s determined to not care for anyone outside of Tuck.

“There are several different slants, all on a similar theme. When two people stand together along Mystic Creek, they are destined to fall in love.”
He shuffled his feet as if to run for his life, which made her laugh. “We could still take in a film,” he suggested.

Spring Forward is heartwarming and endearing. Catherine Anderson provided engaging and entertaining characters with strong and fierce females you don’t want to tangle with. Ms. Anderson created a wonderful secondary storyline for Tuck while also showcasing the strong bonds formed with pets. Fans of Jamie Beck and R.S. Kovach will enjoy Spring Forward.

Publication: January 2nd 2018 | Berkley Books | Mystic Creek #4

The New York Times bestselling author returns to Mystic Creek, Oregon, with a story about finding an unforgettable love just around the corner. . . .

When a favorite customer on his delivery route needs a favor, Tanner Richards agrees to help without a second thought. The last thing he expects is to face off against the man’s spitfire granddaughter.

Crystal Malloy is near her breaking point. Her beloved grandfather constantly skirts the rules at the retirement center where he’s recovering from surgery. She’s caring for his escape artist dog, even if it means abandoning her salon customers, and she has no time for a romantic attraction to the handsome new stranger.

After Tanner’s reassigned to Mystic Creek, Crystal can no longer ignore how much she misjudged the man’s good intentions. She has known too much sorrow to easily open her heart, but she can’t deny that Tanner and his children could gift her with a happiness beyond compare–if only she can forgive herself for the past and accept that she’s deserving of such a love.

That dog stole the show so much as did Tuck. I loved the feeling of family and heartwarming even while deep issues were dealt with. Love her writing.
