Summer in Good Hope by Cindy Kirk: Prim moved home to Good Hope after losing her husband. She’s happy to be back and living so close to her dad and sisters again, but it’s an adjustment for her six-year-old twin boys. While she misses her husband, she’s determined to remain single and focus on raising her rambunctious sons.
Max just so happens to be Prim’s new neighbor. They used to be friendly and were on the competitive math team back in high school. Prim has mixed feelings about this; Max is a really good guy and time has been very good to him, but he brings out feelings that she’s not entirely ready for.
He quirked a brow. “What if I’m not ready to leave?”
“Then stay.” Her heart quickened. “It’s a public beach.”
“Do you want me to stay?”
“Sure.” She spoke quickly, too quickly, then added, “If you want to, I mean, that’s your decision.”
Prim was planning to take her time getting settled, but she’s quickly roped into helping plan the parade for Good Hope’s 4th of July festivities. It just so happens that Max will be her planning partner. They immediately fall back into the camaraderie and friendship that they had from their school days as they work closely together in parade planning.
Before long friendship turns into more and has Prim rethinking her plan to stay single. They have great chemistry and Max is a steady and constant presence for her and her boys.
“Plotting what deep, dark secrets you’re going to get me to reveal?”
Prim arched a brow. “Do you have deep, dark secrets?”
“Nope.” He grinned and she felt warm all over.
“Actually.” She placed the cards in her lap. “I was thinking how comfortable I am with you.”
Summer in Good Hope is sweet, heartwarming, and funny. Cindy Kirk provides an entertaining second chance at love with a good mix of fun, emotional, and romantic moments. Ms. Kirk provides a great cast of characters with plenty of busybodies and matchmakers. Summer in Good Hope can be read as a standalone. Fans of Kimberly Lang and LuAnn McLane will enjoy Summer in Good Hope.
