Take Me by Maisey Yates: Travis and Sydney were at one of Jason Treffen’s famous galas as friend/dates, but it ended up being one of the worst nights of their lives. It also started them down a path upon which they could never turn back.

TM_AAs the pair drank champagne and basked in the magnetism of Jason Treffen, their good friend Sarah ended her life by jumping off the building in which they were celebrating. Neither Travis nor Sydney could stomach returning that night to the campus that would remind them of Sarah, so Travis – almost blindly – took Sydney to a hotel that might get him in trouble, but he just wanted to forget.

Sydney couldn’t face the room that she’d shared with Sarah for so long. She trusted Travis with her life, and needed to be with him no matter where he was taking her. However, when she walked into the hotel room, it screamed sex – and the feelings she’d been pushing away with fervor were threatening to burst out, especially since all her other senses were so raw.

When comfort turns to sex, and sex turns back into comfort, the morning after becomes awkward for Sydney. Travis is determined that since they can never go back, he’s going to tell her how he feels, but Sydney wasn’t having any of it. Not only did she not want his love, but she denied his friendship, and they both lost more than they bargained for.

Travis doesn’t want to give up, and Sydney may have to reassess her ambitions. Will they be able to salvage any part of their relationship?

This prequel to the Fifth Avenue series really sets the tone for this departure from the norm for the Presents line. The stories diverge from the regular Presents, and even the covers are different. However, I found this book amazingly riveting and SUPER hot. If you like your books to be suggestive and not descriptive, this probably isn’t for you. But it’s worth a chance in my opinion.

It’s not just about sex. It’s about friends that love each other. A night that changed their lives. Something that prompted them to act and reassess the relationship that kept them comfortable, but not completely fulfilled. It left me with the warm fuzzies while I was fanning myself – a great balance of steamy and sensitive.
