Taming the French Tycoon by Rebecca Winters: What happens when you will give up everything for family and for promises made before the “future” happens?

Taming-the-French-TycoonJasmine Martin had the gift, perhaps not so much as her grandfather, but close. She was also his last hope. Nothing like pressure on the shoulders of a very complex twenty six year old. Jasmine was the best part of her French side and her American side and for years had been working towards this goal for her grandfather and now it was time to complete this action and get back home.

Lucien Charriere had his share of risk taking when he was younger, now he was a stand up banker and was devoted to his family. The last thing he needed was a young woman to come in and stir the pot. The problem, he couldn’t stop thinking about her.

Jasmine and Lucien never realized that their first meeting would be so similar to the rest, misinterpretations and assumptions clouded their judgments of each other. They both had goals, Jasmine’s was to complete her grandfather’s lifelong wish and return home. Lucien’s was to get Jasmine.

Was it possible to have both goals accomplished? Only time (which was running out) would tell.

Ms. Winter’s has given her readers an interesting coming of age novel. The story really revolves more around Jasmine and her desires than the romance of Jasmine and Lucien. In fact as strong as Jasmine is, Lucien’s character almost seems weak, more in terms of development than as a character. That being said, the ups and downs and the strength that Jasmine shows is really inspiring. There are points where her pain is so palpable it hurts. Taming the French Tycoon is a great story for anyone who likes to know you can be true to you and have happiness.

I’m not sure about this book because the romance doesn’t seem to be the focus. I appreciate your honest review, Valerie.
