The Book Proposal by K.J. Micciche: The saying goes drunk minds speak sober thoughts, well for romance author Gracie Landing her drunk words get her into a whole lot of trouble. It all started out as a mini pity party to help remove her writers block, and a few two many drinks later and Gracie has gone and sent an email to her high school crush, Colin Yarmouth. Talk about embarrassingly cringy right? Well this might not be the case when Gracie receives a response from Colin, who too is going through a bit of a personal meltdown with his recent failed relationship.
Soon the two find themselves sticking up an unlikely friendship with the very promising potential for more. But what happens when Gracie starts to borrow some of Colin’s story to create her own? Could this little stunt blow up two lives and what could have been a beautiful ending?
This book just called to me right out of the gate, with a premise about an author and her unrequited crush having a second chance, a possible retelling of a love story and something going terribly wrong, I was totally hooked! I loved how easy to read and get lost in this book it was, this really was a light fun read.
Gracie was such a hot relatable mess. I loved her most of the time but there were a few moments that I found to be a bit too much. The thing I liked the most about Gracie was that she embodied the fact that we are not all the same person that we were in high school, we grow and get better at life. For the most part of this book she was an awkward hot mess and this made her character kind of enduring. I really enjoyed getting to see her build this connection with Colin and in a way living out her high school fantasy. All in all I really liked our girl Gracie even when she made a bit of a mistake. Now I think it would be safe to say that we all had that one crush in high school that really has always been at the way back of our minds and this is exactly our hero Colin. Only Colin is way more swoony. Our guy Colin really had a lot going on, I’m not going to go to in detail about his story but I will say that I felt that there could have been a bit more closure. Also as much as I liked the guy there were a few moments that he had me thinking ‘wait what, now?’.
There were a few immature moments in this book that really were placed for humour but didn’t really land for me, like way to many fart jokes and Gracie ‘sharting’ herself at the beginning of the book. This was a bit juvenile and almost took away from a good story. Aside from this I really liked that this was a fast paced read and that the entire story spanned ten days, a bit fast but these two just clicked. I really enjoyed reading their emails and getting to see them form this new relationship.
The Book Proposal was a fun interesting read. If you are looking for a laugh out loud, snort while you are reading romcom then this is definitely the book for you!

DESPERATELY SEEKING FICTIONAL HERO FOR HAPPILY EVER AFTER
Broke up with, broke, and with a vicious case of writer’s block, romance writer Gracie Landing is a hot mess. She can hardly be blamed for drinking one (or a few) too many cocktails when out with her besties in an attempt to cheer herself up. Sometime in the foggy wee hours, she recklessly emails her unrequited high-school crush, Colin Yarmouth, who is now a successful attorney harboring regrets of his own. When she receives an intriguingly friendly (not to say flirty) response, her acute embarrassment is overcome only by her fervent curiosity―what would a hottie like Colin be like as a grown up? The two forge an unlikely friendship that’s unmistakably headed for more. Colin’s tales of his own woeful break-up become fodder for Gracie’s fertile imagination and her current work-in-progress takes off. With the deadline looming and her checking account dwindling, Gracie has no idea that borrowing Colin’s story could wreak havoc on her life, her career, and her own chance at happily-ever-after…
