The Christmas Escape by Sarah Morgan: Lapland at Christmas with her long-lost Aunt Robyn was supposed to be the start of a great family relationship, but Christy’s entire world is potentially falling apart. Things have been happening that have her questioning whether her marriage is crumbling or not, and she chooses to postpone going on her trip to Lapland to try to work things through with her husband. She asks her best friend, Alix, to take their daughter, Holly, and start the trip without her.
Alix is immediately wary, as she always has been of Christy’s husband, but agrees to take Holly much to her own shock at being asked. She knows there is something that Christy is not telling her but doesn’t want to pry. She is almost immediately shocked again, when she finds out that Zac, the best friend of Christy’s husband, is asked to go with to help.
After arriving in Lapland, Alix finds out that Robyn and her partner are under the assumption that her and Zac are a couple and will have to share a cabin to take care of Holly. Of course, it’s the only cabin left. The duo have a mysterious past and Alix is wary to let Zac in her life again. She doesn’t allow people to get close to her and keeps her dating life at a “One-Date” max for each suitor. What is she supposed to do when Zac starts to wear down her walls?
Starting this book, I was honestly nervous about how the three stories would wind together. Normally, I feel that at least one of the sides is disjointed, but this story gave all three women the perfect amount of time and made you understand why you cared about them. Robyn is a bit of a mystery for the first part of the book even though she’s the first person you meet. She had a broken relationship with her sister and looks forward to reuniting with her niece. She has to confront her past and the reason why there was a rift between her and her sister.
Christy always strived for the perfect life, which is what she learned from her mother. When she finally let loose, she met her husband and within three months was pregnant. When she starts to question her husband, she finds that she doesn’t know how to lose control. The night they met was the only time she let herself lose control before. Throughout the book, she learns how to be the best version of herself. It helps her relationships with her husband, friends, daughter, and aunt.
Alix was the most intriguing of the group. She had been through a lot in her life and kept everything locked up inside. The way that Zac approached everything with her taught her how to trust others and open up. By the end of the book, she knew how she needed to change to have better relationships.
Overall, the book was amazing! I loved all three women and the way their stories intertwined. Each woman was relatable in a different way and it was very easy to follow all the characters. I can wait to possibly know more in future books.

Alix can take Christy’s little daughter to Lapland, and they will reunite there for Christmas Day. It’s a big ask, but what else are friends for?
There’s nothing Alix won’t do for Christy. But Christy’s request to save Christmas is giving Alix sleepless nights. She knows something is wrong, but for the first time ever, Christy isn’t talking.
