The Cowboy Cookie Challenge by Lori Wilde is the thirteenth book in A Twilight, Texas series. This was the first book I read in the series, but I had no trouble following along. It was a well written second chance romance with a unique storyline that makes it memorable. The characters were charming with real life dilemmas.
Pediatric nurse Jazzy Walker was known for her constant cheerfulness and positivity. But Andi, her lifelong rival, who had stolen Danny, her ex-high school sweetheart, brought out her competitiveness. She finally realized that Danny and she were not a good match and that she had stayed in that relationship too long. She wants to beat Andi at something finally and the Cowboy Cookie Challenge would be her chance. She knows she can win if she can get Roan to help her.
Widower Roan Sullivan is a previous winner of a campfire cook-off competition. Losing his wife while he was competing left him feeling guilty and he stopped competing. Jazzy’s kind heart and love for life brightened everything but Roan had to think of his daughter. He couldn’t allow Trinity to get hurt if he started something with Jazzy and it didn’t work out.
The cookie challenge and the competitiveness between Andi and Jazzy added layers to the story. I liked watching Jazzy grow and realized she didn’t need to compete and win against Andi. All the kitchen accidents added humor and kept me laughing as Jazzy was learning to bake. This was a light and fun Christmas romance that will touch your heart and leave you with all the feel-goods.

He’s sexy, single, and he can bake!
Roan Sullivan is the answer to Jazzy Walker’s prayers. The doting single dad is also fresh off his win on a popular cooking show and a whiz at campfire cooking, so who better to help her win this year’s annual cookie bake-off? With his help, Jazzy is sure she can finally take first prize right out the grasping hands of Andi Browning, the gal who stole her fiance right from under her nose.
A widower with a four-year-old daughter, Roan tells himself there’s a million reasons not to help Jazzy. She’s too kind, too optimistic, and could do so much better than hitching up with a curmudgeon like him. But every time she draws near, he can’t help but wonder if he could open his heart and love again.
As the holidays come closer, the magic of Twilight starts to weave its spell…and soon it’s not just the competition that’s heating up, it’s the hot sizzle between Roan and Jazzy.
