The Earl’s Convenient Wife by Marion Lennox: Willed to marry? In this day and age? Is that even possible?

The-Earl’s-Convenient-WifeJeanie McBride couldn’t believe it. The woman she had grown to love like a mother, friend and confidant all rolled into one was gone. More than that though Jeanie was out of a home, a job and everything she had known unless she married. She had been through this before, twice even and marriage just wasn’t in her future again. Those rose-colored glasses had been shattered when her last husband perished.

Alasdair McBride was the head of a huge corporation. He was a Laird in Scotland. He may be a little closed off, but there was less chance of being hurt that way. Since he was little that was all that had happened, his parents could have cared less. His cousin, who he was forced to spend way too much time with, was a wretched excuse for a human. His grandmother was really his joy, but now she was gone. However it seemed her meddling and looking out for him wasn’t finished yet.

It seems that Jeanie and Alasdair have some serious discussions to have about the future. However they are both quick to judge and even more so protective of themselves. Will they allow themselves to look to the future? Or will they each go into their shells?

The Earl’s Convenient Wife by Marion Lennox is an interesting take on a heartwarming Cinderella story. The brogue is faithful and wonderful to read, the descriptions of some of the nature scenes will have you imaging yourself in Scotland. The best part though is probably the connection that Ms. Lennox gives you to the characters. There are a few minor choppy parts to the story, but nothing that is overwhelming. In fact the dialogue and descriptions more than make up for it. The Earl’s Convenient Wife by Marion Lennox is a definite feel good book.
