The Greek’s Ultimate Conquest by Kim Lawrence is a sexy romance with unique characters having to overcome trauma to get their happy ending.

Nik Latsis is a Greek shipping magnate who took over the company when his father died. But prior to this, he was a war correspondent, and on his last assignment his beloved friend and cameraman died in his arms. He is still haunted by his nightmares. One night shortly after he returned home he met a spirited and lovely woman, Chloe, with whom he had a one night stand (first names only), but left in the middle of the night when he received a tragic phone call. He hasn’t been able to forget her either.

Chloe belongs to Greek royalty, and had been running a little known fashion blog when an interview with Tatiana Latsis had made her blog a profitable success. When Chloe was involved in a motorcycle accident that left her in a burn unit, she helped a young girl in the room next to her cope with her injuries, a girl who turned out to be Tatiana’s god-daughter. From then on Chloe and Tatiana had become fast friends. On attending a charity event with Tatiana, she discovers that the man she had a one-night stand with, the man who treated her to the heights of passion then despair when he disappeared overnight is none other that Tatiana’s brother Nik. Chloe vows not to be seduced by him again, but Nik has other plans. Will their second chance lead to the ultimate happy ending?

I really enjoyed this story! Instead of just having a billionaire hero, the author gives him a notable prior career as a war journalist with PTSD to deal with on a day to day basis. His one night with Chloe sticks out in his mind as a time when he could forget about what happened. The idea that he could have that again if Chloe were willing makes him pursue her.

Chloe obviously has her own issues. Burn scars cover part of her body and she believes that Nik will not be attracted to her if he finds out she doesn’t have the perfect body she once did. She knows that she took their one night stand too seriously, but she was a virgin and it impacted her life. Seeing him again brings back memories good and bad, and the attraction she feels is just as strong as the first time. As Nik and Chloe reconnect, they both find ways to deal with their issues and become stronger for it. They get a well deserved happy ending.
