The Hollywood Jinx by Sariah Wilson: When small town librarian Jane Wagner sent a last ditch pleas video to Hollywood star Nick Haddon inviting him to attend her small towns harvest festival, the last thing that she could have expected was for him to actually turn up and with an entire film crew in tow! It all started with the small town of Patience needing a financial boost and what better way to bring in tourist than a big Hollywood name? Little did Jane know that this is just the kind of good press that Nick could do with after pushing his luck one to many times in the industry. What was supposed to be a short trip to a small Ohio town get soon good press and do some kind deeds soon turns into Nick falling for the small town librarian with big dreams. But can these two actually have something when they are so clearly from two different worlds and every instinct in Jane’s body is telling her to guard her heart?

The Hollywood Jinx was such an easy to love story, this book felt like reading a Hallmark movie novel with the cute small town, big shot celeb hero, sweet guarded librarian and one super cute love story. There really wasn’t anything not to love about this book, it was low in drama and high in sweet cuteness. I will say the first half of the book was a bit slow to start of with but once the plot began to grow momentum it was hard to put down.

I have to say that I liked Nick a lot more than I had expected. I will be honest I had expected him to be this snobby and arrogant celeb that just rolls into town but I was pleasantly surprised by how nice and caring he actually was. I really liked the way he interacted with all the towns people and that he did have this superior air to him. This only made seeing him falling for Jane all the more sweet, he really was a great hero. As for Jane well she was a bit all over the place. There were moments that I really liked her character and then there were moments that I just felt that she came across as to rushed. Nevertheless I enjoyed getting to see her bring down her walls around Nick. I will say that I found the build up of Nick and Jane’s relationship to be a bit on the slower side to my liking, there could have been a lot less drama had Nick spoken up earlier in the book and really this could have cut down on all that back and forth.

As with all small town romances, the secondary characters are always a nice little extra and this book is no different. I really enjoyed getting to see all the locals adding to Nick and Jane’s story and really adding so much a comedy to the book. I think the only thing that was lacking of me was the missed opportunity to do something with the ‘jinx’ part of the book, aside from saying Nick causes people to always lose money I had hoped for something a bit more.

The Hollywood Jinx was a nice read, not Wilson’s best book but still an enjoyable read nonetheless. If you are looking for a slow burn small town romance with a lot of push and pull between the main couple then this is the book for you.
