REVIEW: The Italian’s Innocent Cinderella by Cathy Williams

The Italian’s Innocent Cinderella by Cathy Williams is an enjoyable slow burn romance that I found to be pleasant and enjoyable without all the usual angst a Presents usually has.

When Maude’s best friend stands her up as her plus one for an upcoming weekend event, Maude’s boss Mateo agrees to step in. She may or may not have suggested to all that she’s happily dating her plus one – and by may or may not of I mean, she actually did. Mateo covers well and is ready to escape at the end of the night as per their private agreement. Unfortunately things start to ravel out of control when one of the guests publishes a pic of Maude and Mateo. As a result Mateo charges to the rescue. Unexpectedly passions ramp right up causing even more dilemmas.

I found this story lovely. It was a slow burn with strong characters. There’s no angst and it’s a lovely love story. A stunning cover represents how I imagined Maude and Mateo. I didn’t think Maude was a Cinderella as such. I liked how her Mum had to calm down with her plans and realised her unrealistic expectations. I liked that Maude was older and I really enjoyed Mateo’s character.

Lovely story recommended for any who love a good straightforward romance set in lovely settings.

A traumatic past event means shy Maude’s job is the only place she feels safe shining. So, when she needs a last-minute plus-one, she strikes a deal with the one man she trusts—her boss! But claiming to date ultra-rich Mateo Moreno makes avoiding the limelight impossible…

Mateo is horrified that innocent Maude’s name is being dragged into the headlines. He’s even prepared to make convenient vows to protect her. But whilst Mateo thinks he can maintain ironclad control over his emotions, their sudden, all-encompassing passion has other plans!
