The Kingmaker by Kennedy Ryan: It all started out years ago with one short chance encounter that left a lasting mark on two lives. Only to be given a second chance together several years later with one magical week in Amsterdam but this too is cut short, with both Maxim and Lennix having goals and unyielding plans life gets in the way of what could have been one romance story for the ages but fate is not done with these two when they find themselves in the same town ten years later… with neither willing to let anything come between them this time round could they finally get their happily ever after ending?

Holy moly!!! I think this was Ryan’s best book ever! The Kingmaker was one incredibly consuming read that I could not get enough off! The only reason that this is not a five star read is because of the cliffhanger ending! Otherwise this book was pure angsty, dramatic, swoony, steamy perfection. Not only did this book have great representation and diversity but the plot itself was so well planned and delivered it was hard to find a negative.

The thing I loved the most about these two characters was the fact that they stood perfectly alone but together they were pure magic. I loved the fact that both Maxim and Lennix were so alpha, there was something so refreshing about having two such highly driven leading characters, not only did they push each other but this only help make their passion burn all the more hot and bright. I loved the fact that they both had such strong dreams and desires and did not let their connection push their mission to change the world on the back burner.

Lennix was such a great leading lady, I loved her passion for her Native American heritage and that she wanted to make a positive difference in this community. She was truly a girl boss and did not let anything get in the way of her mission and passion. She truly was one of the best heroines that I have read in a long time. As for our hero Maxim, well I loved that he wanted to step way from the wealth and over the top privilege that he grew up in to form his own path in life. He really was an impressive hero and I loved that he was so determined to make a difference. More than this I loved seeing him grovel and trying to win Lennix back.

I absolutely loved seeing Maxim and Lennix together, these two was intense! Their passion and chemistry just reacted together to create one incredibly consuming love connection. I really liked that even after ten years apart their spark was very much still there and getting to see them try to reconnect and build on this made the entire book all the more addictive to read. I will say that the fact that they were both such strong and big personalities only added to their connection.

As with all of her books Ryan keeps things very real and relevant, I really liked how heavily Native American rights and politic played in this book. Not only were these topics that need to be spoken about more but it was delivered in a very tasteful manner. I have to say that I liked this about Ryan’s writing style and the fact that she makes sure to mention the effects on the environment and climate change.

The Kingmaker was an incredible read that I would highly recommend reading. I now desperately need to get my hands on the conclusion of Lennix and Maxim’s story in the second part of All The King’s Men series!
