The Mighty Quinns: Dex (The Mighty Quinns #26) by Kate Hoffmann is an excellent addition to the well-written and engaging series. This book is about successful documentary filmmaker Dex Kennedy and aspiring film producer Marlie Jenner. Marlie is relentless in her pursuit to create a first-class documentary about esteemed 97-year-old Irish author Aileen Quinn, however, in order to do so, she needs Dex as her partner. Luckily, Dex and Ms. Quinn reside near each other in the great country of Ireland.

Dex has not worked since he lost his best friend and business partner while on assignment in Columbia almost a year ago. He has been in a funk for months. Meeting Marlie and inhaling her spunk, convinces him dexto join her project. Marlie can learn a lot from Dex and begins to soak up all of his knowledge, intelligence and wisdom as the documentary begins to take shape. They are both extremely attracted to each other and within a very short period of time, become good friends and lovers.

Through their interviews and research, Marlie and Dex discover even more than they bargained for in regards to the lives that Ms. Quinn has touched. In fact, during the investigative process, Dex comes across information that will change both his life and his twin sister Claire’s forever.

Marlie returns home to the states once the documentary is finished to finalize the promotion and distribution details. She misses Dex terribly and realizes that they belong together permanently. Dex is more than lonely as he enjoys the Christmas tree he and Marlie trimmed together. Luckily, love conquers all.

As an avid reader of the Quinns’ series, I can honestly say that Dex’s story may be the best one yet. I really liked both Marlie and Dex. Both characters are real, likable and caring. Marlie’s metamorphosis into a successful business woman and Dex’s ability to move on from tragedy, are paramount to the conclusion of the story. This book is chock full of delightful twists and discoveries that made me want to learn even more about the lives of these characters. This book can be read as a standalone.

Just the right touch…

With her career on the line, Marlie Jenner is determined to make a top-notch documentary about beloved Irish author Aileen Quinn. Which means she needs a top-notch filmmaker; she needs Dex Kennedy. Dex is talented, well respected and Irish. He’s also hotter than hell. And when they meet, he looks as if he wants to eat Marlie right up.

Marlie does look delicious, but after a fatal accident during the shooting of his last documentary, Dex refuses to work on another film. Marlie has some very persuasive techniques, however, and after one seductive, drugging kiss, Dex is hooked—on the film, on Marlie, on the prospect of living again. But every documentary takes on a life of its own. And this one promises an ending that none of them could ever have anticipated….
