In The Nurse’s Christmas Temptation by Ann McIntosh, ever since losing her grandmother things haven’t been the same. So, instead of staying home for Christmas, nurse Harmony Kinkaid decides to take a job on a remote Scottish island. However, she never imagined falling in love with someone totally her opposite. Will Harmony take a chance on a future with Dr. Cameron MacRurie or are they too different for Harmony to risk her heart on someone else she could end up losing?

“Whoa,” he said, and the amusement in his voice made her want to blush all over again. “Remind me not to rile you up.”
With her nose in the air she swept past him, on her way to the medical stores. “I think it’s almost inevitable that you will at some point,” she retorted before she could stop herself. The sound of his laughter smoothed the last of her ruffled feathers and she found herself smiling too as she set to work.

What a charming, fast-paced, entertaining read Ms. McIntosh has delivered in this opposites attract medical romance where the main characters have interesting back stories and it really shows just how opposite they are; the dialogue drew me in right from the beginning and had me loving the building chemistry and romance; and the obstacles these two face to be together had we wondering if they’d ever be able to overcome them because the heroine worries about losing someone she loves again. Will their fears stop them from achieving their happy ever after?

With the main characters, it’s understandable why the hero is determined to live his life to the fullest and why the heroine fears to do anything that will risk her life after everything that’s happened in their pasts. Will the heroine step out of her comfort zone and be tempted to take the sort of risks the hero takes? Will the hero be able to convince the heroine that living life to the fullest isn’t as scary as she thinks it is? Moreover, I loved every interaction between these two, as Cameron is charming, kind, caring and determined to get to know Harmony and why she’s so against his way of life.

”You’re better off staying out of it.”
“Whatever happened to ‘many hands make light work’?” Harmony had asked, amused by the other woman’s sour tone.
“That went out the window about three days ago,” had been the crisp response. “If you really want to help, come by my place later and help me make Clootie pudding.”
Knowing the woman’s reputation for efficiency, Harmony hadn’t bought it. “You don’t really need my help, do you?”
“No, I don’t – but I could use the company. I hate baking, but this year I ended up on the list to make the puddings and I don’t want to. At least having company will make it less painful.”

Overall, Ms. McIntosh has delivered a really good read in this book where the secondary characters are just as entertaining as the main ones, especially Katherine with her story about Cameron’s grandfather; the chemistry between this couple builds and builds and I enjoyed their romance since it definitely shows that opposites attract; and the ending had me loving the hero’s determination to prove to Harmony that she means everything to him by what he does for her when it comes to Christmas. I would recommend The Nurse’s Christmas Temptation by Ann McIntosh, if you enjoy the opposites attract trope, medical romances, holiday themed romances or books by authors Amalie Berlin, Tina Beckett, Alison Roberts and Annie O’Neil.
