The Partner Track by Cat Wynn: When Perdie and Carter end up fighting across a courtroom in North Dakota, it appears that more than just the law wanted to intervene in their relationship when they are forced to spend the night together in an airport hotel room after a winter storm grounds all flights.

Returning home, after what can only be described as a steamy one-nighter, Perdie believes after her smashing victory she should rightfully be named parter in her archaic patriarchal firm.

Unfortunately, the big ol’ boys club deigns it essential to rub Perdie’s nose in it by hiring Ivy league Carter, and her new found position as his subordinate does little to curb the hot attraction between the two. As things seriously steam up between our duo, Perdie realises that she isn’t cut out for commitment and in a moment of genuine frustration, quits her job, abandons Carter and returns to what she knows best – her pug bananas and her life-long bestie Lucille.

Our office romance is a sizzler and despite Carters super clean ‘pretty boy’ appearance, he is one of the genuine good guys. Likewise, Perdie is a thousand percent loveable, with a brand of self-deprecation that is incredibly appealing in corporate spaces. For the most part, this breezy read ticked all the boxes and the management of tension, sexual and otherwise enabled a fairly simple plot to unravel with ease – the only real downer being the bird-cage pet names that both Carter and Perdie used for each other which undermined the inherent edginess within the novel.

Exploring gender inequity, meritocracy and social class privilege, The Partner track is a super fun read with steam to boot – a definite choice if you are looking to sneak a hot corporate romance with substance into your back pocket.

Perdie Stone needs just three things in life: Her forever best friend, Lucille. Their adorable rescue pug, Bananas. And last but not least, a coveted partnership at her Charleston law firm.

A partnership she more than deserves when she goes head-to-head with hotshot Ivy League attorney Carter Leplan on a big case and comes out on top. She didn’t think anything would feel better than beating the annoyingly gorgeous lawyer at his own game, but that’s before a freak storm leaves them both stranded.
Together.
In the last hotel room.
With only one bed.
It’s a one-night stand Perdie isn’t soon to forget…especially after Carter turns up at her firm and slides right into the job that should have been hers. And right back into her life—a life she thought she had all figured out.
