THE PHONE SWAP by Lia Louis was such a fun take on the celebrity romance with an unforgettable meet-cute. Getting to know Allie and Milo through their texts and private conversations was such a fun way to start their relationship. Before fame, distance, and everything else complicated things, they had the chance to simply talk—and I loved watching that connection develop.
Allie was passionate about science, and perfectly happy in her own world. I loved that she wasn’t searching for someone to complete her life. Her relationship with Milo developed because she genuinely enjoyed talking to him and discovering the person behind the fame. Milo was such a lovable hero. Beneath the charm and celebrity status was someone who wanted a normal connection and a person who could see past the image everyone else knew. I loved watching him become more open with Allie and seeing how much their conversations meant to him.
There was so much yearning between Allie and Milo, especially once their relationship shifted from an accidental phone swap into something neither could easily walk away from. I loved how much they wanted each other even when circumstances kept getting in the way.I definitely had moments when I wanted these two to simply TALK it out.
The Arctic setting and the contrast between Allie’s quieter life and Milo’s very public one added another layer to the story.
