The Wedding Crasher by Mia Sosa: Dean Chapman had a five-step plan for his future and finding a suitable partner was number three. He thought Ella was the perfect woman to fulfill the role of his wife in a marriage of convenience. They were both ambitious, career-oriented, and had no expectations of love in their marriage. He was ready to get to the fourth step which was to make a partner at Olney & Henderson LLP before he turned thirty years old in a few months. Once that was completed, he would move on to step five and start a family. Except his third step was not completed since Solange crashed his wedding. When an assignment at work comes up that could get him closer to making partnernership, he jumps on board. The only problem is he needs to have a significant other in order to be successful. So, who would be better than the woman who crashed his wedding to play the part of his fake fiancée?

“…I think the more something’s important to us, the more we feel we’ll lose if it doesn’t work out. So, we convince ourselves not to want the thing…”

Solange Pereira was finishing her fellowship in DC and considering taking a job in Ohio afterward. She was helping her cousin, a wedding coordinator, when she runs into the bride telling a man who is not her husband-to-be, she loves him. She was faced with a terrible dilemma, should she inform the husband-to-be that his soon-to-be-wife is in love with her best friend? Thinking she is saving Dean from making a devastating life mistake she stops the wedding. Feeling bad about ruining his wedding, Solange agrees to be Dean’s fake fiancée. Then Solange’s family comes into town, and she needs a fake boyfriend, so they continue with the ruse. Their fake relationship and their feelings start to get confusing as they continue.

“Here’s the thing about detours… Sometimes they become the destination.”

Solange and Dean had such opposite personalities. He was career-driven, a planner, and liked everything organized whereas Solange was more laid back. She always felt like her mother settled in her life and made a lot of sacrifices as a single parent so she’s afraid of making the wrong decision in life and finding herself stuck. Dean watched his mom follow her heart throughout his childhood and saw it broken so many times. He’s scared to give into his feelings for Solange because he fears she will leave him one day and it would destroy him.

This was the first book I have read by this author, but I am so glad I had the chance to read it. It was beautifully written, and I think the book would make a wonderful rom-com movie. I found myself laughing the entire book and this is definitely the funniest book I have read in a while. I loved all the snarky comebacks and funny scenes the main characters found themselves in. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a book that will have you rolling on the floor and still laughing later on when you think about it.

Just weeks away from ditching DC for greener pastures, Solange Pereira is roped into helping her wedding planner cousin on a random couple’s big day. It’s an easy gig… until she stumbles upon a situation that convinces her the pair isn’t meant to be. What’s a true-blue romantic to do? Crash the wedding, of course. And ensure the unsuspecting groom doesn’t make the biggest mistake of his life.

Dean Chapman had his future all mapped out. He was about to check off “start a family” and on track to “make partner” when his modern day marriage of convenience went up in smoke. Then he learns he might not land an assignment that could be his ticket to a promotion unless he has a significant other and, in a moment of panic, Dean claims to be in love with the woman who crashed his wedding. Oops.

Now Dean has a whole new item on his to-do list: beg Solange to be his pretend girlfriend. Solange feels a tiny bit bad about ruining Dean’s wedding, so she agrees to play along. Yet as they fake-date their way around town, what started as a performance for Dean’s colleagues turns into a connection that neither he nor Solange can deny. Their entire romance is a sham… there’s no way these polar opposites could fall in love for real, right?
