The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory: Alexa is the dedicated and passionate Chief of Staff to the Mayor of Berkeley. Her current focus is on a new program for at-risk teens, which is close to her heart. Alexa is funny, smart, extroverted, and is addicted to coffee and doughnuts. She’s not looking for a relationship and it’s been awhile since she last dated.

Drew is a pediatric surgeon and he loves his job. He loves working with kids despite the long hours and days when he has to deliver bad news. He’s handsome, sexy, charming, and athletic. He’s also the guy who is afraid of commitment. He bails on relationships when they might be getting more serious, yet he manages to be friends with his exes.

Getting stuck in an elevator is never fun, but at least Alexa has some man candy to look at while the power is out. Of course, the downside of being stuck with a sexy stranger is that Alexa tends to be awkward, blush, and feel like an idiot. Alexa and Drew end up bonding over the snacks in her purse and Drew attending the wedding of his ex. In a surprise move, Alexa agrees to be his date and protect him from the bridesmaids and other guests.

“I’ll be there. Please just text me ahead of time if we become fake engaged in the next few hours, OK? I’ll have a borrow a ring.”
“What, you think I wouldn’t buy you a fake engagement ring? You obviously don’t know Drew Nichols very well.”
“Since I didn’t know your last name was Nichols…”

They hit it off really well during the wedding festivities and enjoy what should be a really hot one night stand. They live hours away from each other and they both have busy careers with unusual hours. Their one night turns into weekends together and taking turns traveling. They have great chemistry and banter, but Drew was clear that he doesn’t do relationships while Alexa hasn’t tried anything but relationships.

“When do you have to go back?” she said against his chest.
Oh right. He had to go back.
“My flight’s at seven in the morning.” He pushed her hair over to the side so he could see her face. “I’m so glad I came.”

The Wedding Date is the perfect blend of romance, entertainment, friendship, and heat. Jasmine Guillory pulls you in with a fund and sexy story and keeps you entertained with banter and strong friendships. Ms. Guillory created a well-developed and entertaining cast of characters. Fans of Ruthie Know and Nicole McLaughlin will enjoy The Wedding Date.
