Until It Fades by K.A. Tucker: Catherine wants a better life for her and her daughter than living in a tiny cottage, with a crappy car, and struggling as a waitress. She had big dreams and goals, but all that quickly came to an end when she became the talk of her small town as a teen. Cath has spent the last six years working to be the best mom she could while living a life that keeps her out of the spotlight.

Brett is one of the best players in the NHL. He’s grown up and grown used to the media spotlight around his life, but he’s stayed pretty humble and modest for a star athlete. He’s genuinely a really great guy who just so happens to be sexy, charming, generous, and sweet.

After a disaster of a blind date, Cath drives home only to come upon a car crash. She unexpectedly ends up saving none other than hockey legend Brett Madden. She has no desire for the intense spotlight that comes with her actions but it’s one that really can’t be avoided. Cath is surprised by how much Brett wants to meet her and by the strong feelings he evokes.

“I’m not…” I roll my eyes, but I’m also fighting a smile. Brett Madden thinks I’m pretty. “Please don’t call me that.”
“What? Pretty?”
“No. A hero.”
“So I can call you pretty?”

She feels a connection to Brett from their first meeting and she loves having him around. The accident certainly brought them together, but it transforms into an otherwise unlikely friendship with the possibility of more. Brett is persuasive when it comes to getting what he wants, but he’s also patient. He brings out another side of her that she’s buried due to the past. They have great chemistry and he is really sweet when it comes to her daughter.

“It’s not just the media, Brett.” I wish it were.
“Then what else? You have to tell me.”
“Why?”
“What do you mean, why?” He chuckles. “Because I’m crazy about you and you won’t even answer my calls. I need to know how to fix that so you’ll give me a chance. Please.”

Until It Fades is engaging, compelling, heartwarming, and sexy. K.A. Tucker built the tension and anticipation with great dialogue and interactions. Ms. Tucker created a great set of eclectic characters in their friends and family who enrich the overall story. Fans of Abbi Glines, Colleen Hoover, and Jamie McGuire will enjoy Until It Fades.

Twenty-four-year-old truck stop waitress and single mother Catherine Wright has simple goals: to give her five-year-old daughter a happy life and to never again be the talk of the town in Balsam, Pennsylvania: population two thousand outside of tourist season.

And then one foggy night, on a lonely road back from another failed attempt at a relationship, Catherine saves a man’s life. It isn’t until after the police have arrived that Catherine realizes exactly who it is she has saved: Brett Madden, hockey icon and media darling.

Catherine has already had her fifteen minutes of fame and the last thing she wants is to have her past dragged back into the spotlight, only this time on a national stage. So she hides her identity. It works.

For a time.

But when she finds the man she saved standing on her doorstep, desperate to thank her, all that changes. What begins as an immediate friendship quickly turns into something neither of them expected. Something that Catherine isn’t sure she can handle; something that Catherine is afraid to trust.

Because how long can an extraordinary man like Brett be interested in an ordinary woman like Catherine…before the spark fades?
