Vanilla Twist, (Walk on the Wild Side #2) by C.J. Ellisson, is the sequel to Vanilla on Top, which she wrote in January of 2013. After reading the second book without reading the first, I have to advise, don’t do it. Throughout the story, I felt like I was missing some key elements of both the plot and the characters. It was only after I read the book blurb for and some of the reviews from the first book, that I was able to truly put some of the puzzle together and understand Vanilla Twist in its entirety.

CFO Heather Pierce is finally moving forward in her life by overcoming her insecurities caused by her previous romantic relationship. In a nutshell, she was her ex-boyfriend’s doormat and she did what ever he wanted in order to keep him happy. Apparently a monogamous relationship was not enough for him. Finding out about his other women is what brought her to her senses and as a result, she slowly but surely took back the control in her life. Little by little, Heather began to gain back her confidence both emotionally and sexually. Meeting a strong man who is completely confident with his masculinity certainly helped her heal faster.

Tony Carmine used to be a successful businessman and playboy until he decided he had had enough. Since he worked very hard and had a lot of money in the bank, he quit his stressful corporate job and now spends his time maintaining his rental properties and managing his personal investments. Meeting Heather has caused him to rethink his womanizing ways, because she is the woman for him.

Heather and Tony have a sexual connection that is like no other. For the first time in her life, Heather is enjoying being in control and Tony loves letting her take the lead in the bedroom. He totally trusts Heather as her imagination runs wild with ways to satisfy both their sexual appetites.

As their relationship grows, Tony’s past comes back to haunt him. Luckily Heather is around to help him see whats truly important in life. At the same time, Heather’s ex reenters her life and through her new found sense of self, she ensures that his sneaky and harmful ways will never hurt another woman again.

To begin with, the cover is very hot, just like the book characters. Heather and Tony have dynamic chemistry and the author does a nice job of evolving Heather from a wallflower into a strong woman both in and out of the bedroom. As much as I liked Heather’s take control attitude, seeing Tony’s alpha persona in the bedroom would have made the book even more engaging. Overall, a very hot read.

Still intrigued by the young woman and the multiple layers she presents to the world, Tony begins to change his life, too—for what he hopes is the better.
