Waiting for the One by L.A. Fiore: Saffron loves living in the small town of Harrington, but it’s Waiting-for-the-Onechallenging to find someone to date with most of the men her age already married, a friend, or gay. She enjoys working as a bartender and has a very close-knit group of friends. Logan moved to Harrington to get away from his playboy past and the constant media attention. He wants to live a quiet life and re-invent himself in the art world doing what he wants instead of the niche where he’s been pigeonholed.

Logan is quiet, which challenges Saffron. She makes it her mission to get at least a hint of a smile from Logan when he comes into the bar. She hates that he won’t talk to her when she’s so attracted to him.

“Tommy wants the place to go topless.”
He almost spits out his beer. I grin because he knows that I know that he almost laughed out loud.
“I suppose I shall take that small victory and leave you be. As always, Logan, it has truly been a pleasure speaking with you.” I raise my hand. “Please don’t say anything, because I understand completely that you are secretly so in love with me that I leave you speechless. My supermodel looks are my cross to bear.”

When they finally do get together, their relationship is filled with ups and downs. Logan tends to be private and tries to shelter Saffron from his past and other artist persona, which leads to some problems. Regardless, it’s clear that there is a deep affection and burning attraction that pulls them together. He is also very protective of Saffron; he makes it clear that he will protect her from the media and his fans once his cover is blown.

“He claims that he wants me, so I’m going to sit back and see how he intends to win me.”
“You realize there are thousands of women who would die to be in your shoes, who would actually seek him out, and you have him wooing you.” Josh wiggles his brows at me.
“Those women like the package. I love the man. Logan’s smart enough to see the difference.”
“This is going to be fun to watch.”

Waiting for the One is an emotional small town romance between characters from different worlds. L.A. Fiore created a strong and vivacious heroine in Saffron and a sexy, charming hero in Logan. Ms. Fiore also developed an engaging and supportive cast of secondary characters.

Fans of Barbara Freethy and Brenda Novak will enjoy Waiting for the One.

Saffron Mills has lived all of her almost thirty years in Harrington, Maine—a small town where fishing is plenty, but available men are far too few. Yet it’s not just her dating dry spell that draws her to recent arrival Logan MacGowan. Tall, dark, and handsome, with emerald-green eyes and an impossibly hot body, Logan is a gorgeous enigma whose silence she takes for indifference…until one unforgettable chance meeting, when pent-up attraction ignites into the most intense encounter of her life.

In this quiet, quirky town, no one knows that Logan’s alter ego is famous sculptor and tabloid darling David Cambre. In New York, he had all the wrong kind of attention, but in Harrington, he’s found peace, privacy…and Saffron. She’s witty, forthright, and so much sexier and stronger than she knows. But how do you protect the love you’ve been waiting for when your own lifestyle could be destined to rip it apart?

Thanks for the review, Kim. This is a new author for me, but the book sounds really good and I love the heroine’s humor in the bits you shared. 🙂
