When-We-FallWhen We Fall by Marquita Valentine: Piper comes from a good family and was raised with little affection. She’s expected to get married to the right man, become a trophy wife, and have kids. Piper has lived her life by toeing the line and doing what’s expected. She’s slowly started to come out of her shell and do what’s right by her, beginning with moving out of her parent’s house.

Jase is the sexy, tattooed, bad boy. Jase was more recently released from jail and trying to keep his nose clean so that he doesn’t go back. Jase has known Piper for years, since she’s his sister’s best friend. Piper also kept in touch and sent care packages while he was serving time.

Piper is in desperate need of a job and a new place to stay since her parents cut her off after moving out. She approaches Jase for both a room and a job at the tattoo parlor he co-owns. She’s always been nervous around him, since she’s been in love with him for years.

“Your mother’s a piece of work, if you don’t mind me saying.”
I arch a brow at him. “If you really thought I’d mind, you would have asked me if it was okay to insult my mother before you said something.”
“There’s those claws, kitten,” he murmurs.

Jase can never say no to Piper. He knows that living and working together is a bad idea and that he’s not good enough for her. That doesn’t stop him from wanting her and wishing things could be different. With the encouragement of Jase’s sister, Piper steps out of her comfort zone and goes after Jase. Things really heat up when Jase finally lets go and gives in to Piper. Their differences are complimentary and make them stronger as a couple.

“I’m a southern belle, Jase. It’s what we’re taught to do.”
“Damn sexy, the way you took charge like that.” He leans down and nibbles on my ear. “Make sure I’m around the next time you decide to get all polite while bossy.”

When We Fall is an entertaining friends to lovers story between the quintessential good girl and bad boy. Marquita Valentine provides a great hero in Jase as he is always putting Piper first. Ms. Valentine also provided a couple who knew the importance of communication. Fans of Jamie McGuire and Abbi Glines will enjoy When We Fall.

4S December 8th 2015 | Loveswept | Take the Fall #2

In the captivating new novel in Marquita Valentine’s Boys of the South spinoff series—perfect for readers of Abbi Glines and Katy Evans—a small-town sweetheart takes a chance on the bad boy who’s always been her hottest fantasy.

The last time Piper Ross saw her best friend’s sexy older brother, Jase Simmons, he was being taken away in handcuffs. Seven years later, two things haven’t changed: Piper is still head-over-heels in love with him . . . and Forrestville’s chief of police—Piper’s dad—still hates his guts. So when Piper sees a chance to get close to Jase, she makes her move—literally. As his new roommate, and as the office manager of his tattoo shop, Piper won’t be satisfied until Jase knows that she wants to be his.

The quintessential good girl, Piper is pure temptation for Jase. The only reason he’s always kept his distance is because she’s the last person he’d ever want to hurt. But once he realizes that Piper is ready to take the leap, everything just makes sense. Suddenly Jase feels like a new man—until nasty rumors start swirling and Piper’s heartless father stirs up even more trouble. Now Jase must convince Piper that she wasn’t wrong about him . . . because falling in love never felt so right.
