Wish You Were Mine by Tara Sivec certainly packs a punch in the feelings department. This author puts her characters through quite an ordeal, but then again, life is rarely easy and somethings are worth a little suffering. Don’t worry though, Wish You Were Mine delivers a sweet ending that is very much needed with these characters.
As you read Wish You Were Mine, things might seem simple. Girl grows up with two boys. Falls in love with one of the boys but doesn’t tell him. The same boy loves her back, but again, keeps his feelings to himself. Then the other boy makes move on the girl, and things go from there. At least, that’s how I thought it was going to play out. But, not everything is how it seems and this author has a few tricks up her sleeve.
It’s been five years since Cameron and Everett have seen each other. Everett has refused to come home because he didn’t want to ruin their friendship and also, because he didn’t think he was good enough for Cameron. But, nothing is the same and they both lose a vital part of themselves and have to deal with the fallout.
I really love this cover. It’s absolutely beautiful and should grace bookshelves everywhere. The characters are great, too. Cameron is strong, beautiful, and even though she’s had to endure so much, she never once falls. It took me a bit longer to care for Everett. The whole misunderstanding falls under his shoulders, as far as I’m concerned and it’s sad to think they missed out on so much because of it. Everett, does grow on you, though. He steps up when Cameron needs him the most and throughout the story, you could tell how much he cares for her.
Readers who enjoy the friends to lovers trope, should definitely check out Wish You Were Mine. Filled with angst, sizzling chemistry, and a plethora of emotion, it’s not a book to overlook!

Five years. I would’ve stayed away longer if I hadn’t received the letter. Not a day has gone by that I haven’t thought about her, haven’t missed her smile, haven’t wished that things were different.
The last time I saw my two best friends, I vowed to not stand in the way of their happiness, even if that meant I couldn’t be a part of their lives. Cameron James and her emerald-green eyes were too much of a temptation and I couldn’t stay and watch them together. Cameron deserved better than me. She deserved him.
But now that I am back, things are different. I’m not going to stand by and watch the woman I’ve always loved slip away again. I’m done living my life with regrets and I’m ready to tell her the truth. And I’ll do whatever it takes to show her that I always wished she was mine.
