In You’re So Fine by Kieran Kramer, Movie star Beau Wilder arrived in his home state of South Carolina begrudging his obligation to film an artsy movie with a no-name director. Things began to look up, however, when the lighthouse he was supposed to stay in was already inhabited by beautiful Lacey Clark and her five year old, Henry. Beau is instantly enthralled with Lacey’s Southern wittiness and no-nonsense attitude. Plus Henry is the coolest little guy around. Beau simply has to have Lacey but knows she’ll shoot down his offer of no-strings-attached fun while he’s in town. And he doesn’t do relationships. What’s a guy to do?
“You’re being ridiculous. But since you’re being my lighthouse wife, I’ll be happy to take on the role of lighthouse husband. You just say the word, Miz Clark.”
They were like an old married couple already, weren’t they? Fighting and having power struggles. Might as well have sex, too.
Starting over after leaving her less-than-stellar acting career behind in L.A., Lacey Clark and her adopted son Henry move to South Carolina. She will do anything necessary to provide stability in her son’s life, especially after having none in her childhood. So when Beau Wilder, in all his hunky glory, shows up at her door? Lacey’s first instinct is to tell him to get lost. She doesn’t need an egotistical actor turning her life upside down. But something in Beau calls to Lacey. And he truly is wonderful with Henry. So how is she going to say goodbye and keep her heart intact when his movie is done and he moves on?
“Do you like him?”
For once, Lacey wasn’t going to lie to her. “Yes,” she whispered. A beat of silence went by.
“Then go after him.” Simone’s voice cracked–so unlike her. “Just do it, Lacey. Be brave and inspire the rest of us.”
What do you get when you pair up a gorgeous movie superstar and a feisty single mom, both with Southern charm and attitude? Pure, unadulterated fun.
Beau and Lacey’s romance was something wonderful. Author Kieran Kramer managed to take two people who tended to be a tad melodramatic (they were actors, after all) and infused laughter, emotional soul-searching, and passion into their relationship with ease. To me, following Beau and Lacey on their journey to happiness was so realistic that I felt like I was invested in the outcome. Each moment they shared, whether it was lighthearted, spent bickering, or wrapped up in past events was precisely detailed, giving the reader a peek into the character’s exact emotion at that time.
I really loved Henry, too. Not only was he so smart and charming for a five year old, but he seemed like an old soul. Henry could read people and easily felt their emotions. And seeing Beau fall for Lacey was entertaining enough. However, the ‘male bonding’ scenes with Henry and Beau surfing or talking about superheros were so precious. I loved that all three of them kind of knew how special their situation was co-inhabiting the lighthouse, and tried to make the best out of their time together. Also, as the story progressed, I enjoyed the surprises we learned about Lacey and Beau’s family issues and how everything was resolved. It was a very fitting end for such a lovely bunch of people.
If you love contemporary romance with a heavy dose of Southern sass and wit, definitely check out You’re So Fine. I’ll think you’ll be very happy you got to meet Lacey, Henry, and Beau.

Lacey moved to Hollywood to make it big. What she got was an actor boyfriend who fathered a child with a woman who abandoned the baby. Lacy breaks up with the cheating boyfriend, but not before she adopts the baby, Henry, because his father has no interest in him.
Lacey takes a job assisting an actress, Monica, and gets another actor boyfriend who is set to work on a movie in South Carolina with Monica. Then her boss and boyfriend run off to Italy. Left with a new resolve to never date another actor, she moves into the South Carolina lighthouse she had rented for Monica.
However, her ex-boyfriend has sublet the lighthouse to an actor. They agree to share, and while Beau seems like everything Lacey has vowed to avoid, he may be just what she and Henry need…
