BLUE JEAN SUMMER by Maggie Gates: Hayes Wilder needs a wife to secure his grandfather’s estate. Catherine Foster needs help with the medical debt left behind after her mother’s death. So when Hayes offers to pay her debts in exchange for marriage, the two make a deal that seems pretty straightforward. Except Catherine used to have a crush on Hayes. BLUE JEAN SUMMER by Maggie Gates takes us to Honey Hollow for a marriage-of-convenience romance with a cowboy billionaire, a former beauty queen and a whole lot of reasons these two should probably keep things simple.

What pulled me into the story was watching this marriage of convenience turn into something neither of them planned for. Hayes and Catherine start out with very practical reasons for saying yes, but the more time they spend together, the more their friendship, attraction, and feelings start getting harder to separate.

The chemistry between Hayes and Catherine was sweet and flirty. I liked that they weren’t complete strangers walking into this arrangement. What I enjoyed most was watching them go from partners in a very practical deal to genuine friends and then something much more. One of my favorite things about Hayes was the contrast between the polished businessman in his suits and the cowboy in boots. And once he starts treating Catherine like she’s his wife—Yeah… the “my wife” energy was working.

BLUE JEAN SUMMER gave me exactly what I wanted from a small-town a marriage of convenience romance: cowboy vibes, a heroine with a huge heart, and a hero who starts out needing a wife and ends up completely gone for her. Add in Honey Hollow, the Wilder Estate, the found-family friendships, and plenty of “my wife” moments, and I enjoyed spending time in Maggie Gates’ newest small-town world.
