Spotlight&Giveaway

Hi Melissa Foster and welcome to HJ! We’re so excited to chat with you about your new release, A Little Bit Wicked!

Hello incredible readers!

Please summarize the book a la Twitter style for the readers here:

He’s boots and leather. She’s Louboutins and lace. Opposites don’t just attract, they combust in this captivating new standalone romance.

Please share the opening lines of this book:

If Alan Rogers had been referred by anyone other than Chloe Mallery—the only woman Justin Wicked wanted in his bed—Justin might have already cut off the long-winded, condescending jerk and been on his way out for a drink with his older brother and business partner, Blaine. They’d spent the hour since closing time listening to the executive director of the Lower Cape Assisted Living Facility (LOCAL) drone on about his expensive home and the elaborate patio he wanted them to install.
“I assume you two will be doing the work?” Alan asked, giving Justin and Blaine a scrutinizing stare.
Justin could feel the pompous prick judging his tattoos, worn jeans, black T-shirt sporting a Dark Knights at Bayside motorcycle club logo, biker boots, and the leather jewelry he wore. The Dark Knights were known in most circles for the work they did to keep the community safe, and for their charitable efforts, like raising awareness about suicide and bullying prevention.

Please share a few Fun facts about this book…

  • The hero Justin Wicked was nicknamed Long Dong Naked Man in my book Bayside Passions (Bayside Summers series)
  • The Wickeds are cousins to my fan-favorite Whiskeys
  • The Wicked men refer to Chloe using a well-known song title
  • I have a mad crush on every one of the Wickeds
  • There is a huge “OMG that did not just happen” moment in this book

What first attracts your Hero to the Heroine and vice versa?

Heroine to the hero – His bagels and muffins when they first meet in Bayside Escape. In this book he’s funny, sexy, protective, and too pushy to deny.

Hero to the heroine – Her keen hazel eyes, her smart-ass banter, her brilliant mind, and her gorgeous body.

Using just 5 words, how would you describe Hero and Heroine’s love affair?

Steamy, sensual, loving, wicked, destined.

The First Kiss…

is a long time coming for these two who have been playing cat and mouse for years.

Without revealing too much, what is your favorite scene in the book?

I have so many! Probably Chloe and Justin’s talk at the beach. It’s very emotional.

Chloe was struck momentarily speechless as she processed everything he’d said. It was all making sense now. His protectiveness, his walking out the night of the storm when she’d hesitated to kiss him, his watching over her with Beckett. When she finally wrapped her head around it all, she said, “I had no idea there was so much to being a Dark Knight, or that it was that much a part of who you are. I had heard about the club doing good things for the community, but everything you just said makes the members sound like an army of really good men.”
“They are. That’s exactly what I’m saying. And that’s not to say we’re special or anything like that. We’re just people who want to help others.”
“That makes you special, Justin. I always knew you were a good person, but I didn’t give you credit for how good. I didn’t have all those pieces to understand why you did the things you did. As I said, my past clouded my clarity.”
“Some judgments are harder to let go of than others.”
She turned so they were facing each other and sat cross-legged between his legs. “I don’t know much about your family, and that leaves room for guessing.”
“Then let’s take the guesswork out of the equation. You and I have a lot in common, Chloe. I always knew we would, but I never knew why. I just had this feeling the whole time I’ve known you that we were meant to be together. Now I understand.

If your book was optioned for a movie, what scene would be absolutely crucial to include?

The Salty Hog bar scene and the beach scene. They are pivotal scenes in their story.

She looked regretfully at the table where his brothers and cousin were sitting and said, “I thought you guys were just…”
“Being reckless? Troublemakers?” He cocked a brow. “I’ve heard it all, Chloe. Nothing you say will shock me.”
“I’m sorry. I should know you better than to assume something like that. But there’s so much that I don’t know about you, I guess I filled in the blanks based on past experiences.”
“No shit, princess.” He turned his hand over, holding hers, and said, “I’ve been trying to fix that.”
Her eyes skirted nervously around them. She looked down at their joined hands, and he was sure she’d pull away. But she didn’t. She met his gaze again and said, “Do you want to take a walk and talk about it? Get it out of your system?”
“You sure you want to hear about this?” He was thankful for the opening she’d given him but wary about bringing her down. “It’s not pretty, Chloe.”
“Life rarely is.”

Readers should read this book …

If they like fiercely protective heroes, strong heroines, and unbreakable family bonds.

What are you currently working on? What other releases do you have planned?

I am currently writing THE GRITTY TRUTH, which is the story of Quincy Gritt, who readers would have first met in TRU BLUE (The Whiskeys: Dark Knights at Peaceful Harbor). As a recovered drug addict, his journey has been a long one, and I am so excited to be writing his incredibly emotional love story. My upcoming releases are SEARCHING FOR LOVE (The Bradens & Montgomerys) in July, which is an amazing second-chance romance that made me laugh and cry, and TEMPTED BY LOVE (The Steeles at Silver Island) in September, a funny, sexy, and emotional single-parent romance that will rip your heart out and put it back together again.

Thanks for blogging at HJ!

Excerpt from A Little Bit Wicked:

“Come on, dollface. I’ll give you a ride home.”
“I told you I could handle it. You didn’t have to go all caveman on him.” She reached for her purse and said, “I have my car. I met him here.”
“Then I’ll walk you to your car.”
“I appreciate the offer, but you don’t need to.”
“No shit. But I’m not the kind of guy who lets a lady leave alone, so let’s go, sweet thing. Smile and head for the door.”
“You’re so pushy,” she said as they cut through the crowd.
She’d said it teasingly, but he knew little Miss Independent better than that. She was proud of being self-reliant. What he didn’t know was why she was dead set against letting anyone else take care of her.
“What did you say to him?” she asked.
“I told him the date was over.” He held the door open, scanning the lot as he followed her into the warm night. “Do you see his car?”
“No. He was parked over there.” She pointed to the far end of the lot. “He’s gone,” she said.
Justin put his arm protectively around her. As they walked to her car, he slid his hand to her waist and pulled her closer. She lifted her eyes to his and the temperature spiked. Her cheeks flushed, and he knew she felt the same soul-searing impact he did.
She jammed her hand into her purse, moving out of his grasp as she withdrew her keys. “I owe you one,” she said a little breathlessly.
“You’ll never owe me anything, baby. Why do you waste your time with losers like that?”
She shrugged one shoulder. “On nights like this, I have no idea.”
“A woman like you shouldn’t be screwing around with dating apps and Ken dolls when you’ve got a real man standing right in front of you.”
“Justin,” she said apologetically. “You know I swore off dating bad boys a long time ago.”
“That’s what you keep saying, but you have no idea how good bad can be.” He stepped closer, trailing his fingers along her arm, loving the hitch in her breath. “When you realize the error of your ways, you know where to find me.” He kissed her cheek and said, “’Night, hot lips. Be safe.”

Book Info:

When the Dark Knights at Bayside and the cast of Bayside Summers collide, sparks fly, and trouble—or maybe love—is not far behind.

What do a cocky biker and a businesswoman who has sworn off dating bad boys have in common? According to Chloe Mallery, not much.

Justin came into the Wicked family after a harsh upbringing by a thieving father. He’s gone through a lot to become a true Wicked, and he’s made them proud. Now he’s ready to show the woman he loves exactly what type of man he is. But Chloe has worked hard to move past her difficult upbringing, and she’s wary of getting involved with a man who looks like he’s walked right out of it. When tragedy strikes, will their trying pasts draw them together, or will Justin’s protective nature be too much for Chloe’s independent heart to accept?
