Spotlight&Giveaway

Hi Juliette and welcome to HJ! We’re so excited to chat with you about your new release, Coldest Fire!

Hi, everyone! Thank you to HJ for having me. I’m super excited to be here.

Please summarize the book for the readers here:

Coldest Fire is an opposites attract (sort of) paranormal romance about an archangel hell-bent on revenge against the demon prince who once imprisoned him and a witch who is hiding from her past. Uriel needs Nadya’s help to return to the demon dens she hates, in order get the justice he craves. But Nadya’s got some secrets of her own. And when these two pair up, the last thing they expect is to find the healing they both need. And the love.

Please share your favorite line(s) or quote from this book:

“I hated you and not because you’d gotten away and left me behind. I hated you because you took the light away.” I grazed my lips against hers, breathing in her air. “My light, Nadya. You are my light.”

“My life won’t be ruled by the evil of others. My life is mine. No one else’s. No matter what they’ve tried to do to me.”

“A kiss was a caress of souls. An intimate entanglement of breath and affection.”

Please share a few Fun facts about this book…

I pestered my German blogger friend, Jasmin, for ideal locations for the demon fighting pits and also to be sure I added some authenticity to my German demons. It was her knowledge of Prague and Budapest that sold me on these locales. I was so grateful for her help that I named a character, Mrs. Stegemann, after her.

Here’s a playlist and writing inspo for my characters:
“Moondust”—Jaymes Young
“Speak To Me”—Amy Lee
“All the King’s Horses”—Karmina
“Gasoline”—Halsey
“Cold”– Aqualung & Lucy Schwartz
“Wolves”—Down Like Silver
“In Chains”—Shaman’s Harvest
“Heavy”—Florence & the Machine

What first attracts your Hero to the Heroine and vice versa?

Uriel has a bit of a pride-and-prejudice attitude toward Nadya, misunderstanding who she really is. Because he was imprisoned by a witch before, he doesn’t trust them. But when he sees her offering help selflessly to others and especially to him, he can’t help but fall for her.

Did any scene have you blushing, crying or laughing while writing it? And Why?

Their first sex scene had been in my head for months prior to starting to write the book. I don’t want to spoil the surprise, but there is a BIG discovery that Uriel realizes of Nadya and what she’s been through. It’s the catalyst for a very emotional and intense sex scene. It definitely had me tearing up and my heart pounding while writing it.

Readers should read this book….

if you enjoy wounded heroes and/or heroines who find that love can heal all wounds. Even in the apocalypse when demons host fighting pit parties for fun and it looks like evil will win, good can overcome any enemy when enough friends come together. And if you enjoy a good story with humor, danger, sexy times and a love worth fighting for, then you might like this one.

What are you currently working on? What other releases do you have in the works?

I’m currently plotting book two in my brand new paranormal romance series, STAY A SPELL. This is a contemporary paranormal romance series set in the trendy, Bohemian-esque district of Magazine Street. Book one WOLF GONE WILD releases January 14, 2020. This is a departure from my darker, edgy books with a bit more humor and fun.

WOLF GONE WILD features a witch named Evie who specializes in hex-breaking and a cursed werewolf who’s hearing voices in his head. Actually, it’s one voice—his Wolf—who won’t shut up. And the things he’s saying would definitely put him on Santa’s naughty list. Please check out my website for details if interested.

Thanks for blogging at HJ!

Excerpt from Coldest Fire:

“Apertum mihi,” he whispered in Latin.

I didn’t know if he was speaking to me or summoning his power or both, but my lips parted on his command. Opened for him. Then his mouth was on mine, a firm but coaxing press of lips. A crackle of energy rippled over my skin, melting through flesh and bone on a blazing trail of…Uriel.

That’s all I could manage to think when his lips swept over mine, unhurried. Barely moving. One hand slipping to wrap my nape and cradle the back of my skull. The possessive hold broke something inside me. A wall of protection, a barricade of distance. The fortress I’d erected since Vladek, hoping to keep all men far and away from my damaged heart.

Uriel wasn’t even after my heart. This wasn’t even a real kiss. Not the kind that mattered. And still, a well opened up, flooding my body with intoxicating emotions. A river of sensuality parked by a seemingly haste kiss swept me to a hazy place. His power—a potent force—rushed through my veins on a dizzying tidal wave, crashing through and over every barrier I might’ve erected against him. A moan slid up my throat and poured into his mouth.

His fingers clenched at the base of my skull as if to keep me still. On a gasp where our lips parted for seconds, his stormy gaze glimpsed my face, his own frozen in a mixture of disbelief, fear, and stupefying desire. A carnal groan rumbled in his chest, raising gooseflesh on my skin, before he hauled me into his lap.

Then he really kissed me.

That’s a hard one to say … I’ve always have remembered reading BabySitters Club , sweet valley high and Nancy drew but I will say that I’ve always have re-read scents and sensibility . Jane Austen was a a woman born before her time .

I had a head injury several years ago that messed up my memory so I don’t have a book I read years ago that stayed with me. BUT I do have one read a few months ago that has stayed with me. One Year Home by Marie Force haunts me. I doubt I will every forget it.
